I see many parallels to the events back in Sept 2011.

We had Peter Jackson in similar vein to MC, telling us, whilst trying to convince him-self that he’s the right man for the job.

We had the development squad ( under Archie Christie) where we were meant to dip into, enjoying the riches it would produce.

We had the weak squad that played without desire and not a lot of much else

Sat in a similar lowly position, albeit a division higher, we’ve now parted with the latest incumbent.

Back then Mark and Julian got lucky, sat unemployed at the far side of Leeds was Phil Parkinson.

Lawn and Rhodes, had a reasonable modicum of sympathy and tolerance from the fans, local lads and fans themselves, they were here for the right reasons. They’d come under quite firece criticism at times, however the bottom line was, they were doing their best.

    Fast forward to Sept 2018

We’ve the much maligned Rahic, for many he’s gone beyond the last chance Saloon. They want rid asap, personally, I’d like to see the back of him.

The fixture at Blackpool if brought a defeat, would have been the end game for the vast percentage of the fan-base, the following home game would have being a cauldron of vitriol aimed towards him.

He’s clearly bought himself a little time by bringing in Hopkin, this is his last realistic chance of redemption; He desperately needs Hopkin to be Lawns and Rhodes Parkingson, as does the fans alike.

Not only does Rahic need this huge slice of luck the Hopkin delivers, he must also revise this policy of trying developing and using a host of youth players on the cheap, just as Archie Christies plan was abandoned. It doesn’t need totally scrapping, Brentford’s version of this works, he needs to learn it can only operate as a small facet of the clubs running and not seen as a main feeder to the first team, if every three/four years a million (plus) pound player can develop, then all well and good.

He needs to allow the budget to be increased and used on players that will put the club back in the top six, and not fee's on a policy of just youth. Go back to the structure that gave us steady progress that took us to the cusp of the Championship

If he’s looking to get an immediate return on his investment ( or already is), then this needs suspending until such time we become a Championship club, and invest in the team with quality at this level.

He needs to let a manager manage, pick his players and targets.

He needs to learn humility, drop the arrogance and listen to advise,

Lastly he needs a huge slice of luck in this appointment of Hopkin, because the fans goodwill went with the yuletides of last Christmas and this current bumpy ride will look like a Sunday afternoon jaunt in comparison to what will be coming his way.

If all this is delivered, then we all might just get along nicely

I think it’s different because Edin won’t be channelling all the funds to the first team like Lawn and Rhodes did.

Unlike your talented self I have no idea, but it looks like a workable blueprint to me.

A little reminder for you and Rahic, he could do worse than accept the wisdom from Yen and many fans.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. These words are usually credited to the acclaimed genius Albert EinsteIn

Think you may have misunderstood what I said - it's great piece but Rahic (The Talented One) won't change will he? Or do you think he will?

If he was the only one involved no! However, our main investor does not want to see his investment go down the toilet. He may not know football, but he does understand success, he will also be aware of more than one way ‘Rahic way’ of achieving success. The Rahic is extremely expensive if done properly something Rupp is not interested in. So yes I do things things will change, if it doesn’t we as fans and R&R will all be extremely sorry.

Agree with the OP. A few additions that I would make:
    • This is probably implied by the idea of an increased budget being spent on quality players, but just to be specific, I would like to see some more experienced cover. Kilgallon would have been an example this year, McArdle, Darby in years past. I think we should always have a few such types in the squad, who perhaps wouldn't be regulars but can be trusted to settle things down during a match, or to use their experience to see a match out when needed, or to fill in competently when a regular first-teamer is out. We've seen last season, and already this, what can happen without such cover.
    • If, as the various comments/rumours here and elsewhere suggest, relationships within the club and between club and sponsors / the football world / the broader community are strained or even fractured, efforts must be made to repair these relationships.
It's almost like those numerous "final" boarding calls at airports -- this does seem like the last last-chance at redemption. At least one right move has been made after a series of wrong ones. It may still be difficult on the field for a while, but Hopkin does give me hope that we can keep things afloat until January and a better chance of reinforcements where needed.

People keep saying that they haven’t put any of their own money in, just using transfer fees in to pay for new players etc so why would it matter if Rupp walked?

Pretty good timing by Rahic, if it continues to go 'south' he'll be passing the buck onto the new, more experienced coach.... he could see what was coming.. i just hope for the sake of our club, hopkin can salvage something from this mess because if not, there is potentially a lot at stake this season.

Rahic lacks judgement and is stubborn in his belief in how a football club should be run, It is a recipe for turbulence in the future until he is replaced and a more stable and more experienced owner/operator takes over,
