I said 80 a while ago and people were going 84+. Think 79 will probably be enough with the form of all but Port Vale.

Yeah, but had they won tonight we would've had to go to Doncaster and win. Now we just have to avoid defeat. Assuming other results match, of course.

 

Last 4 games for the other top 6 side:

• Port Vale: Carlisle (A), Grimsby (H), Wimbledon (A), Gillingham (H)
• Walsall: Harrogate (H), Newport (A), Accrington (H), Crewe (A)
• Doncaster: Tranmere (A), Colchester (H), City (H), Notts County (A)
• Wimbledon: Chesterfield (H), Gillingham (A), Port Vale (H), Grimsby (A)
• Notts County: City (A), Cheltenham (H), Harrogate (H), Doncaster (H)

Walsall easily have the kindest fixture list on paper but with their recent form and 2 of the 4 fighting against relegation anything could happen. Doncaster are the only one to have 4 games against teams who have something to play for, hopefully the Tranmere from the last 10 minutes against Accrington turn up and not the first 80.
If we win on Thursday that takes Notts County out of the race at least from our point of view and I think it makes it very hard for Wimbledon to overtake us especially with their poor form.

 

5 season in last 20years, I would not class as lots

 

Based on the bits of the Donny game i saw tonight and Tranmeres good home form lately, I wouldn't put it past Donny again not getting a win on Friday. Walsall the same, Harrogate are another team at the bottom with good home form lately.

Win on thurs, no ifs or buts. It's going to be a stand up and take ownership type win. Put a marker down and say "keep up" to everyone else.

It’s all very tense but damned exciting if we could pull off a win tomorrow we will do this.

 

Well my take on it is that Vale and Walsall will finish top 2.

At the moment I think it's between City, Donny and Notts Co for 3rd spot. If we can manage to beat Notts Co then down to us and Donny.

 

Newport have been on the beach for weeks, Accrington have cracked up since they gave everything against us and Harrogate battle their socks off against us but I think Walsall will beat them. Having said that when I put a treble on Sky bet it rarely wins.

Us winning tomorrow is pivotal as I think Vale will get a shock at Carlisle as will Donny at Tranmere.

 

I hope you are right. Our progress is in our hands but if others do flounder points then it gives a small cushion .

 

The worry is that with our recent form, illness in the camp, Smallwood out, and GA talking about possibly changing formation because of that, we are just as likely to flounder points as anyone else.

 

Agree. I actually think we will lose against Notts Co, draw at Chesterfield and win our last 2 games leaving us on 80 points, would that be enough, probably

I'm struggling to see anyone winning 3 of their last 4 in this league. I think 2 wins are we are up, just where they are. In typical City fashion we'll win on thursday then lose 2 on the spin going into Fleetwood with no finger nails left and far too many nerves.

Imagine if Cook hadn't got that injury? Or even if Pointon, Pattison and Sarcevic were available even for 10% more minutes than they've managed. We'd have pissed this league by now.

 

I firmly believe that IF we win tomorrow, we will go on to grab at least 3rd spot. Lose and Notts are back in it.

 

Does that make a draw not a bad result? Oh I dunno just too many conundrums to consider between now and end of season

 

Whilst there’s 12 pts each to play for absolutely any permutation can occur right until the last whistle on the last day. Nail biting stuff!
