Promotion watch (now with Poll)

Donny now have a tough old spell, with one more game over the same period as their rivals. I am surprised that they have not at any time this season really got going. Watch them win their last four, now I've said that!!

 

Looks like Deadly, Dull, Deranged Dezzer boy has taken Bradford by the sea down. But Sparky’s lot still in with a shout. Certainly hoping they beat Vale on Friday.

 

This season will still twist and turn. Vale still have to play Grimsby and Wimbledon. We have Notts County and Doncaster with the Donny having a couple of tricky games.

 

Chesterfield will be a challenging game, too.

 

I was OK with today's match and the last two away ones, as In think we are far better when teams want to play footie.

Problem, is they are the last teams you want to be playing with ten men and 80 minutes of the match to go. LOL!!

So I think they suit us. But Smallwood will be a big miss.

 

I still detest early kick offs

 

I’m not sure it does tbf. It seems that Sadler stumbled onto a very direct method of playing in the first half of the season, which relied massively on the skill and scoring ability of Nathan Lowe.

Since Lowe was recalled to Stoke in early January their season has been an absolute car crash. Sadler has failed to find an effective way of playing without their erstwhile star striker. Their football has been ponderous, lacking any control - often relying on excessive ineffective hoofball - shaky at the back and creating few chances. He has managed the squad extremely badly. He has flogged certain players to death; persistently picked players who have been performing badly; played players out of position; frozen out other players with proven abilities and presided over what appears to be an unhappy camp split between manager’s favourites and those on the naughty step.
They’ve won just two games since we beat them in mid January and have no wins in their last ten games. They have dropped from a runaway twelve point lead to a strong likelihood of dropping into the playoffs, which few of their fans would fancy them to win.
Matt Sadler has shown no sign of knowing how to halt, let alone reverse their freefall. I’m not surprised that their fans are calling for his head - they see that as their only hope of not dropping out of the autos.
And, of course, it doesn’t help that this is all happening whilst their bitterest local rivals - Port Vale - have been rampaging into Walsall’s former, seemingly impregnable, leadership spot.

 

6 points out of possible 30 in last 10 games played. Their forum is pretty toxic tonight and allegedly a row between Sadler and Walsall fans after the game on the touchline.?

They are doing everyone bar PV a massive favour !

 

Well apart from our own and the port vale result it hasn’t gone to bad for us today. But our away form is very poor and two very difficult away matches to come it looks like it will go to the Fleetwood match

 

Think it's 4 games in 12 days for them which will be tough, the 4th being against us

 

I care that our form is inconcistent and we are dropping points through our own doing.

 

Overall the form has been good that’s why we are where we are. I am sure we would have won with a full compliment today

 

Vale have a tough game away at Carlisle as well on Friday. Many more twists and turns to come.

 

Promotion is the aim but it feels a bit of a damp squib to finish second/third when the title has been in our grasps for so long. I'll be really disappointed if we miss the chance for our first league title in 40 years. Especially considering that this league has been there for the taking, we couldn't have asked for more chances than we've had.

 

At least Sarcevic made his return he could make the difference he has the experience

 

The only thing that is necessary is promotion anything else is just a bonus

 

I hear what you are saying but I think any sort of promotion will be a fitting honour on this anniversary. Anyway it's not over just yet is it?

 

Just hope it does Park but after getting beaten at Chesterfield and Doncaster which with our away form is very likely, I suspect we’ll need to beat Fleetwood and hope for a favour from another club.
