    Early days, I know.

Whilst some are demanding an instant return via the Autos, similar are expecting the play offs as a minimum.
So what are our real expectations ? ......... As we historically know - League 2 is one Helluva place to get out of.
It's a league which require teams to have league 1 ready match winners, and game changers. Add battle hardened league 2 players, but above all - A team ethic.

Clubs such as Carlisle and Northampton have made a few signings already. But are they just signing players, or building a team ? City did this last season !! Great on paper, but shit on grass :(

So what are our general prospects - In the eyes of BantamTalk posters ?

    I'll start - a conservative top 10 :)

League 2 is actually the easiest to get out of, there are more promotion places up for grabs than any of the other leagues.

This season won't be any different to last if the crap isn't forced out. If a few of the bad attitudes remain in the squad forget a successful season. I think at least two of them have attitudes which smell like arse cracks.

Think the poll needs editing slightly.

Should be top 3 and then top 7. 3 go up autos and down to 7th in play offs

Bloody hell, can you recall our playing budgets, RB?

They were absolutely shite baring the 12/13 season.

In the Peter Taylor/Jackson days, our playing budgets were circa £1.25m - not even top ten.

Ha, ha, ha ............ Nice one @Bradford End@Bradford End

    In all honesty ...... I can't.
However, I do recall City being (said) competitive with other league two teams in that period for the best part. Which then raises a pertinent question for this coming season - What exactly is a competitive budget ?? ...... Gotcha !! ;)

Indeed but I think it's the biggest factor in our success, reading the woap piece recently further convinced me that the players shitey attitudes were as much a cause of our issues last season as anything.

Getting out of div 2 won't be that easy because teams
Will want to beat us (being perceived as the "big" team)
so will raise their game to bring about a highlight for them.

We have to be consistent and match them and try get a
psychological advantage as every match will be a test.

This makes sense to me and as @RonnieBrown@RonnieBrown virtually lives on here, then I will do it unless he objects. Probably before 5.00pm. Not sure how this will affect the votes cast, but there is an option to change your vote and an asterisk which shows which category your vote is lodged in.

It’s massively dependant on which players currently under contract can be moved on. If we can move 4-5 big earners on, there’s plenty of room for manoeuvre in the budget and I think at least some of those we’d be left with could be much more effective in a properly balanced side.

Right now, if we have an intent to set a similar budget in the 20/21 season, should we still be in league two, a top 10 finish in which we recreate a solid foundation, shape the basis of a squad with the right characteristics and a couple of good young players, and with another summer to complete the rebuild, I think that would be acceptable.

With a fair wind and good recruitment, a top 7 finish is very do-able though.

A good yardstick is to look at the quality in our last squad that just sneaked into seventh place after Exeter imploded. Are we likely to have anywhere that quality?
    I very much doubt it.

Survival next season depends solely upon how many of the 16 inglorious basterds we can shift. Two or three we're battling for league survival, five or more we have a decent chance of midtable, maybe a little flirt with play-offs until we fall away. We've two or three seasons until we can realistically go back up.
