Promotion prospects

I have always wondered why the Rugby League haven’t developed Odsal has the Wembley of the North. The setting is ideal for a stadium for football, rugby concerts etc. Maybe it is Bradford the city that has put development off.

 

Thats absolute rubbish tbf. You go find a taker for someone like Riley or Wright on the money theyre on. The more crap we can shift, the higher we'll most likely finish. If we're hamstrung by the fact nobody wants our players then I don't think thats down to Bowyer, it's down to the idiot that signed them on massive contracts in the first place.

 

The Rugby league are as skint as Bradford council are, they certainly won’t be developing Odsal .

 

If we start and draw say 3 out the first 6 then that's acceptable so long as we don't lose. Parky set in play the mantra we may not win but we won't lose. If we go to say Cheltenham Game 1 and draw that's ok. But if we lost 1-3 that's an issue straight off. Maximum number of defeats is 4 two home two away. So if we've hit that by October we ain't going up automatic that's for sure. So we have to start compently and solid.

We are already installed as League winning favourites 8/1 so we have to behave like that. As I say if we have run out of permissible defeats come October Bowyer as nice a guy as he is will be under pressure. He should be it's about his recruitment now and managing the justifiable expectations. We are Bradford City playing a season in a League in which we have no comparable rivals in terms of status; size and history. If you look at Smallford City one teams on Mars and the others 10000 Leagues under the sea in terms of difference.

We have to step up right from the off. Get it right on and off the pitch and behave like a grown up Football Club that our forebears would be proud of !

So the fact that NO team in the last 6yrs has finished bottom and then gained promotion the following season means nothing?

Irrespective of the reason, the squad we had last season was so poor, it finished rock bottom. And in case it has escaped your attention, some of the better performers were loanees have gone, leaving us with the players that were gash.

And yet, you still think we should be smashing L2 next season. As I said before..... you’re deluded..!!!!

 

Who were the last team to do it, out of interest?

 

again depends. If we're starting with players like Riley etc or cant recruit properly because they wont leave I would be happy with mid table/playoffs with a view to releasing any remaining crap at the end of the season and having a proper crack at the autos next year with a full team bowyers built himself. That isn't a lack of ambition because I would love it if we smashed L2, just realistic about how bad the players are and what it takes to build a successful team. Demanding things and shouting really loud doesn't achieve anything it just makes us look like spoilt children.

Look at a team like Luton, or us when we went up. Did we do it overnight? DID WE FXCK it took us 6 years and riding a wave of upward momentum, built because parky was given the time and tools (as much as we could afford) to build a culture of success at the club. We want the same thing, I just think you're unrealistic in expecting a complete culture change at the club to happen over night.

 

For me the first 10 games will be essential. We’ve had such a terrible season and the moral and motivation of the players, coaching staff and fans has been severely tested. If we can get off to a strong start then I’d say we have a good chance of immediate promotion. The standard of L2 is not great, a big part of our success will be getting everyone involved in the club back on side and all pushing in the same direction.

I fear that if we have a bad start then the negativity from this season will continue and could end our season before it’s really begun.

 

I have gone back through the archives and Swindon were the last team to do it. Finished bottom with 41pts in 2010/11 and bounced back to win League2 with 93pts the season after. This was under the management of Paulo Di Canio and notable players that we will remember in that winning side were; Connell, De Vita, Lee Holmes and Caddis. That was a very good squad

No point in trying to debate with Fordy and the likes. They are deluded and think that by stamping their feet and demanding success, this means we are guaranteed success. No real rationale behind their views other than ‘we are a big club’. But they can’t explain what a ‘big club’ actually is.

And if you dare to challenge their views, it means to lack ambition. Bubbleheads the lot of them...!

 

BB I cannot for the life of me understand why what I have said would wind up any of us ? It's got to be some of the most positive constructive thinking being put forward about how the club team and management need to approach a season in a League whether we like it or not we should not be in ???

We need to demand ...on Rupp on Rhodes on Bowyer on the Players accept responsibilities act like grown up men running a grown up Football club free us of this quagmire of a pub league automatic and at the first attempt ! Step away from those demands and excuses and mediocrity fill the void. I'm demanding everything and you should do so too. No hiding place no way just think of the complete crapp we are playing week in week out it is literally an "open goal every single week" we need to make sure we are punishing these pub teams every single time.

You've low standards and guess what you will achieve low things with that mindset.

Rupp got us in this mess along with Edin and now Rupp should get us out of it.

If you just want to sit back and relax then the owner will too. Fans need to demand better or you won't get it.

 

yes but just demanding things doesn't actually make them happen. I can demand Doyle bangs 30 goals in next season but hes not gonna fecking do it is he lol
