Totally agree with you and Ollylondon Bantam, Dennis. We are in a relegation battle, end of. Forget play off hopes and all the nonsense about odds and the like.
Julian said weeks ago the sole and only aim is to finish fifth from the bottom this season. He repeated that aim in an interview as recently as three days ago in the Yorkshire Post and that is what everyone is focussed on. Yes we have done very well recently and by rights should be a point better off at least but others may say the same.
On another thread several weeks ago I said I believed 54 points will be needed to stay up, I am now wavering to say I think the last relegation spot could go down with a record points collection, certainly 54 becomes questionable in my mind.
As you say Dennis much will depend on the window and especially who or what wage burden we can unload and who comes in but DH has made his views clear on this. Much as the likes of Fordy want Stefan to spend he is already fulfilling his promise to invest (his words) simply by keeping us afloat after his partner's blunderings. Big money has been put in through the summer and recently to prop up the mess so we can't have it all ways.
Sorry to you guys who have put money on the play-offs, survival is the only game in town this season.

Quite the opposite, positive energy is being poured into every aspect of the club at the moment, morale has rocketed as I know having spent time with the VP staff. Major tyre pumping job going on. I think you confuse negativity with realism, the world in which I operate.

Just kidding. I've actually got City top half finish, £10 @ 18/1 and City top 6 finish, £1 @ 500/1 so i'm firmly in the 'glass half full' minority.

 

This pretty much sums my thoughts up. I can't comprehend talk of play offs when were only five points clear of the bottom and about to lose one of our key players.

Form is great at the moment but we know how quickly that can change - still plenty of recovery work to be done.

 

Why wouldn't we play Akpan in holding midfield and O'Connor at the back?

I'm also wondering why you've overlooked Colville, Wood, Riley and even Josh Wright and Jake Reeves who are both in training at the moment.

Hopkin wants Wright out of the club, probably as much to do with wages or attitude as ability.

Either way, he won't be keeping Patrick or Bruenker either so your point is completely irrelevant.

 

He plays Brunker, he doesn't play Wright.
