Just need a couple of defeats on the bounce then people will stop being silly.
On the other hand this would have surely been a promotion season if Edin had employed Hopkin the first time round instead of Collins.
Imagine if we'd have had a fit squad, a proper pre season and a manager that knew his arse from his elbow! Makes me sick to think what we could have achieved.

Looking at this season as a 'missed opportunity' is like a lottery win compared to talk of 'dropping out the football league' which was the message board concensus only 6 weeks ago. I'm more than happy to wait till next year.

However much I love the optimism, given our currently league position I’m more concerned by relegation than promotion.
As much as another 3 wins could lift us high up the table, 3 defeats could see us firmly in the bottom four.
At this stage I’ll still be looking for anything 20th and upwards. However ask me at the end of Jan/mid Feb and I might have a different opinion!Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Aireboro Bantam, Lepton Bantam, Parader and 3 others like this. -

well at least there’ll be a few happy bantams tonight that scunthorpe won again. how dare mccall do that to us if it means we’re back in the relegation zone.

66-1 is ridiculously low.
6th placed Doncaster are going at 1.73 ppg, which is equal to 80 points over the season. (I know the actual points total is likely to be a bit lower, but still high 70s I'd expect, which is a very high scoring season).
If we win every game we will finish on 87, so in other words we can only afford to drop 7 points in 20 games, just to make the playoffs. As much as I'd love it to happen, it won't sadly.
If we win the next 10 in a row and the top 6 start to implode then we might be able to talk.Aireboro Bantam, Carts #CTID and Tolly856 like this. -

Totally agree @Mike Hunt - potentially losing one or both of Payne and Luke O’Brien would be a disaster. Coupled with our track record in previous january windows, albeit with Edin and Abbott gone, it’s a concern if we’d even get decent replacements in given budget and suitable player availability constraints. It’d be bad enough possibly losing either player in terms of just having the player/s no longer available, but I also worry it could set the squad psychologically backwards. It’s obvious both have been absolutely key during our recent impressive turnaround. That’s not to dismiss the others, but clearly they make us tick.

Julian said weeks ago the sole and only aim is to finish fifth from the bottom this season. He repeated that aim in an interview as recently as three days ago in the Yorkshire Post and that is what everyone is focussed on. Yes we have done very well recently and by rights should be a point better off at least but others may say the same.
On another thread several weeks ago I said I believed 54 points will be needed to stay up, I am now wavering to say I think the last relegation spot could go down with a record points collection, certainly 54 becomes questionable in my mind.
As you say Dennis much will depend on the window and especially who or what wage burden we can unload and who comes in but DH has made his views clear on this. Much as the likes of Fordy want Stefan to spend he is already fulfilling his promise to invest (his words) simply by keeping us afloat after his partner's blunderings. Big money has been put in through the summer and recently to prop up the mess so we can't have it all ways.
Sorry to you guys who have put money on the play-offs, survival is the only game in town this season.Tennesseebantam, Bronco and Budgie like this. -
