Blackburn have 13 players at the moment. Dack is out injured for most of the season and they’re in disarray. The fans and players want Mowbray gone but the owners know they won’t attract anyone else because they’ve no money….

My take on the game….

1) - we scored the first against the run of play
2) - O’Donnell was very poor. Kicking was poor as was communication. Pleased to see Hornby on from the start of the second half.
3) - Watt did ok for first game back but was caught out of position and cynically fouled giving free kicks away. Would’ve have been booked had it not been a friendly.
4) - Angol the better option to Cook who struggled to impose himself. Great touches from Angol who could be a major asset.
5 - Cooke started slowly but grew into the game and did well.
6 - City better team in second half and dominated with some intricate play.

Lots of reasons to be optimistic this season. Only concern is an injury to Cook or Angol and we will struggle.

But we all knew this last season , so hardly a shock!

Why some constantly think he’ll come good in the end need to understand…he won’t.

Let’s not knock a good performance however.

 

Looking at the odds for outright winners of league two, we’re 3rd or 4th favourites at around 14/1. Based on our recruitment both on and off the pitch, proven winning manager, results and performances in the friendlies (sorry @Fordy117 ), I’m quite surprised they’re so long. I stopped backing us a few years ago but having watched the game yesterday and liking the grit and determination, coupled with the team ethic I might be tempted to gamble a quid.

Think I will take that in an each way accumulator - top 3. Big bucks to be had.

I think Bowyer is probably a good coach, maybe not an exciting football coach. The problem is when form drops off and points are getting dropped he maybe doesn't have the motivational skills that Degsy has and know when to give players a kick up the backside which according to players who have worked with him before Adams is more than capable of.

 

Team that started was Championship quality - on the balance a league one side. Anyway, wins a win, doesnt matter who. 5 on bounce is great prep for Exeter.

 

Amuses me that the poster who is most belittling the importance of pre-season matches seems to be using something Steve Bruce once said as his main justification. Think this is the first time in the history of the world that someone has used a Steve Bruce quote to support their argument, including Steve Bruce!

 

The pension funds only remit is to get the best return for its members, nothing else matters. If flamingo land, for some bizarre reason, feel the need to go down the sponsor route then I'm sure Sparks will accommodate them.

 

Its very popular with folk from West Yorkshire so it’d make great sense to offer some kind of discount to season ticket holders or pay on the day fans.

 

Christ, this is like an afternoon with my Dad and his mates talking about the respective benefits of various different pensions they're all in. Like. Watching. Paint. Drying.

 

Did you see the Man Utd starting 11? It wasn't their first team by an stretch. Solksjaer would have got zilch from that game regardless of the result because only 2, maybe 3 of them will be in the starting 11 vs Leeds. If his strongest 11 complete with Maguire, Shaw, Rashford et al had lost that game 4-2 it would be a completely different reaction.

As for 'Jack all'....so you are telling me Derek Adams is simply going to guess his formation and starting 11 against Exeter? He won't have formed an opinion or taken anything away from the 7 games we will have played?

Wonder if the way we acquired him (although all apparently legal) gave out a slightly negative view, must admit i'm surprised we managed it but for me I don't think we could have done much better and like many I feel positive about this season..

 

I don’t think Mike Harrison would be happy about anyone other than Stuart McCall.
