Pre-season Friendly - Getafe CF (Spain) v Bradford City

I really did think we were much better than this.

If we're going to have a pre-season friendly in Spain - then agree to it on the terms that ticket/entry is done on the same basis as any other pre-season game of this stature - pay on the gate or buy a ticket online in advance if that's what they offer - and arrange optional travel packages / coach transfers with a reputable company for those who wish to choose to do so.

 

If I was another official partner of the club, running an established and reputable business, I would not be happy about this.

This is an atrocious ploy by Sparks and friends to make a few quid out of hard working football fans, all that way to watch a City team of trialists & youth players against a Spanish 3rd tier team that absolutely nobody has heard of

Absolutely despicable this by the club, and any fan that takes them up on this "opportunity" either has money to burn or is f*cked in the head!

 

They're also charging 70 Euro (£59) for a bus to a match that is about 5 or 10 euro entry (entry costs for regional Spanish leagues).

Absolutely scandalous.

What amazes me the most is that no-one has pointed out this is a part time league, so this match is about the same as playing BPA. Barcelona B (reserves) play in the same league, in fact they won it last season. Knock yourself out if you want to travel to Spain to see a mid summer kick about in searing heat against a team that East Bowling Unity would possibly beat.

 

But they've got a fan zone! It can't be any worse than ours

 

Is that with half price season tickets?

They famously lost 12-0 to Barca B a few years ago and were investigated to match fixing, several management resignations followed.

 

Is that an excuse for every poor decision by the club? Its cheap so do not complain?

 

So we've not even done our due diligence on this lot either.

Some idiot within the club clearly thinks there's enough City fans who are naive and stupid enough to just think "Wow Benidorm + City away day" and not look even slightly realise:

- Poor opposition. Part time regional league - (third tier and below in Spain is split into many regional leagues)
- Morally Questionable opposition, i.e 12-0 losses and match fixing accusations (starting to wonder now if they're in on this pay from Kaduma Travel only to retrieve access to the match)
- Random fan zone suddenly set up for this match (for the Spanish club's mates to rinse us of extortionate beer prices)
- Travel company organising this isn't even protected from relevant governing authorities, nor do they have any experience. In fact they've literally just been set up by Ryan Sparks mate?!
- A bus to the match costing 70 euros (£59 as quoted today) is an absolute scandal when you can use local buses for 2 euro
- The travel pack doesn't even include flights. But it includes transfers. So how are they going to organise transfers if City fans are spread across 20 different flights over 3 days for example?

I could probably go on with this list. I'm so ashamed of our club for robbing our fans like this.

Really poor timing to p*ss the fans off ahead of the biggest match of the season too

Rumours coming out of the club that 20 loyalty points will be given for buying the bronze package, 500 for the silver and 750 for the gold.

anyone booking the silver / gold packages will be pretty much guaranteed tickets for the next 2 seasons
