    You know, he got some stick - but he was far more prolific than almost all of our current strikers. Was Scunnys record signing, and reached double figures for them five seasons in a row. 28 goals in 96 appearances for us. We'd take that now! Part of the Docs trio of Torpey, Reid, Babb I believe.

    I'd say its nearer 10 could be more, I dont understand the rivalry with regards who broke the story first, does it matter we eventually got Rupps attention and he dealt with the situation.

    Alan Dowson also was in this group of ex-Millwall players brought to City by Docherty.

    Going back 15 years or so I was doing some work with a bloke from Gateshead who was good friends with Dowson. When football came into the conversation and I said I supported City he enthusiastically told me his best mate was Dowson and he’d been down to watch him during his time at City. I asked what Dowson made of it at City as he wasn’t particularly popular and I remember got stick from the crowd a few times, he responded “he loved it”. Not what I was expecting.

    So the only detail revealed by City about this secret friendly is that DMH injured his back in the warm-up, I hope we haven't breached the secret service act revealing this.

    Seriously, cannot get my head around why the other club want to be so secretive, even after the match, very bizarre.

    Its bizarre. At the end of the day its a meaningless fixture with the sole purpose of getting the players fitness levels up to match day standard. I'd wager most people would just look at the score and not even read the report. If there was one.

    Sounds like Dowse! He is of course manager at Woking (where he is doing a great job) and getting the team ready for another season in the NL as a part time club :thumbup: Chatted with him many times about his time with us at City, he positively revels in his rating as one of 'the worst left backs to ever play for the club' status! ;)
    Without saying too much he has had a few personal health challenges during Covid but seems back to his bright and breezy best - and he has persuaded Matt Jarvis (ex Wolves) to sign up for the coming season!

    Okenabirhie was brought down by Ben Richards-Everton before converting from 12 yards out - making it 4-3 to the visitors.
