Was the javelin story true as we were told it but that it had happened in the 80s

 

Yes very very sadly it is. You may be right and my memory has it happening when I was at school in the late 70s but it could have been very early 80s after I left. But sorry to say it is a true story.

Another one I remember well occurred up at Odsal during a Stock Car Meet. Spectators watching from the old main grandstand were hit by the flying debris from a car. It decapitated a female supporter in the seats watching. It didn't mean there was no Stock Cars the following week or the seating was suddenly out of bounds. Things happened but we carried on back then. I reckon if that occurred these days it woukd shut a track full stop or a least the grand stand ?

Different times indeed. But the school story is correct. I would have to go through the T&A to get the precise date etc...

For me, these are the friendlies you want. No nonsense teams which means you must be on your A game.

Yes i know its mainly about fitness but hey.

 

So are the players not having a training camp anywhere?

Pre-Season is still over a week away, and yet I'm already optimistic for this coming season.
The fixtures reflect some form of order, and let's face it ....... The same can't be said of July 2018 !! This time around suggests the Focus will be on the squad as a whole, but essentially the 11 to 15 shirts up for grabs. Which means many first teamers will get more minutes in one game, than they did in the whole of seven friendlies, last year .... All depending upon fitness, performances and 'understanding the game plan'.
I sense too, that after the final friendly - Bowyer will pretty much have his 'preferred first eleven' in mind (later recruits aside ), rather than still be pining the tail on the Donkey at League games six to ten !!

 

Not too long for the pitch and all its bare spots to be sorted then. Wonder if they will have to lay fresh turf in certain areas.
