    I’m not sure about that, only the naive were dismissing our pathetic pre season form last year, it was a pre cursor for what was to follow. No guarantee but you could tell we were going to be up against it.

    Getting a squad in place to play the series of friendlies is more important than who we are actually playing.

    Why not come over to Ireland again, get a proper team building trip going, we had a good season last time we did that.

    They usually go on very lucrative tours to the USA, Asia etc..

    Couldn't care less, as long as the friendlies give the team the pre season fitness they require this time around.

    Some people love friendlies, and react hysterically to any defeat - but we all know they don't matter.

    Disagree slightly with you about the results. Taking good form into the league campaign is a must. Losing friendlies can set the tone and puts doubt in the players, manager and fans minds. He needs to find 2 or 3 systems and stick with them. Get the players knowing their roles and build fitness as he goes along, in time for the start of the season.

    Brings back memories for me too.Ran myself into that unforgiving track many a time! Old fossils we may be looked upon by some on here, but we were beautiful in our day! Flippin' 'eck, that's golden years at both ends. :confused::thumbup:

    That Newcastle game was a farce, playing 5-4-1 and trying to defend, only for Stuart to say he’d never play that formation in a competitive match!
