With no external debts to write-off, no owner in his right mind would regard Administration as anything other than a personal disaster. On the other hand, Cap'n Admin might see it differently ... an opportunity to buy something at a knock down price.

They can deduct the points next season instead of this can’t they?

When the points are deducted is determined by when the Administration happens. There is no flexibility in that timing.

So we could enter admin the day before the last game and only get a points deduction for that season?

I’m fairly certain you’re wrong and it would apply next season

With three admins I would imagine it will be a severe points deduction so if it was to happen it would be better now

    12.3.3

Subject to the provisions of Regulation 12.3.4 below, where the Club becomes subject to or suffers an Insolvency Event, or the Board impose a deduction in accordance with Regulation 12.3.2:

    a)

    during the Normal Playing Season but prior to 5.00pm on the fourth Thursday in March, the points deduction shall apply immediately;

    b)

during the Normal Playing Season but after 5.00pm on the fourth Thursday in March, Regulation 12.3.4 shall apply; and

    c)

outside the Normal Playing Season, the points deduction shall apply in respect of the following Season such that the Club starts that Season on minus 12 points (including in the National League if appropriate).

Taken from EFl rules. Depends when you go into admin

I think you're right. I seem to recall the rules changing a few years back, specifically to stop clubs playing the system.

Didn't Ken Bates do that with Leeds.
    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2007/jul/11/newsstory.sport17
Bates first bought Leeds in January 2005 but as soon as the team slipped to the brink of relegation last May he put the club into administration, incurring a 10-point penalty but, more importantly, effectively writing off debts of over £30m. Then he formed a new company named Leeds United Football Club Limited and immediately mounted a bid to buy the club back.

Im sure they started the following season on minus something although can't recall if there were other reasons for that.

I thought it was that situation that caused all the problems and the FL changed the ruling saying the points deduction would be implemented the following season ?, I could be wrong.

Leeds was a strange and very complex situation. They entered Administration only after it was clear mathematically that they would be relegated. The 10 points deduction they suffered for this were applied in that season but had no real impact since they were already down. The EFL could do nothing about it at the time since they were the EFL's own rules at the time.

But there is a further twist to the story. After the shenanigans of Bates, Ridsdale etc, on the sale/purchase of the club, the EFL got their own back and applied a further 15 point deduction as a condition of Bates buying the club to be effective from the following season. Typically Bates threatened to challenge this in the High Court of all places but the EFL called his bluff and the additional 15 point deduction stood for the following season. I suspect that is what you are referring to.

The EFL rightly changed its rules shortly after so that another club couldn't repeat what Leeds had done.

Another fan happy to see virtually no attempts on goal when we need wins and best players on the bench. Fans like you deserve relegation.

    12.3.4

Where the circumstances set out in Regulation 12.3.3(b) apply and at the end of that Season, having regard to the number of championship points awarded (ignoring any potential deduction):

    a)

the Club would be relegated in accordance with Regulation 10.1.2(b) or 7.7, the points deduction will apply in the next following Season (including in the National League if appropriate); or

    b)

the Club would not be relegated as aforesaid, the points deduction will apply in that Season and Regulation 10.1.2(b) or 7.7 will then apply (if appropriate) following imposition of the points deduction.

So it will have to be before 28th March otherwise the points will be docked next season
