It's not a poisoned chalice. That's a cop out. This is a huge club at this level, good revenue, big fan base. What's missing is competence, simple as that. A disinterested owner, novice CEO, a manager who's approach doesn't work at this level and seems to think he's doing us a favour by being here.
We're not cursed. Get capable people, reasonably funded, well led and operating to a sound strategy and we'd fly.
And I'm not having the 'fans are the problem' narrative either. Our fans turn up in their numbers every week and they back players longer than most. But they've been fed a diet of sh*te and incompetence for 20 years.

I still believe that with the right manager/head coach you can be back in The Championship within three seasons. I never felt Hughes was that man.Bantam-in-Greece, Manningham bantam, Kopendin1964 and 2 others like this. -

In my opinion we sign too many untried kids from the likes of Villa, WBA, Burnley etc and in the main they are not up to it.
Look at Costelloe, Bola, Nevers, Oyegoke, Afoka, Tulloch etc all pretty much ineffective.
I exclude Wright and Banks, the only two who showed any promise. Even Pierira (sic) faded after looking the part.
Seasoned pro's - not over the hill types, who have something to prove and fit into our style of play are the ones to loan.
When I see the likes of Steven Fletcher etc signing for Wrexham when Mullin is out, I get a little envious - and they even had Palmer in their squad!
We just seem to sign any kid going as long as he's from some Premiership under 12's side.

Here are some of the main reasons a player who looks garbage here might look great elsewhere:
1) We signed them, but they don't fit our tactics
2) We signed them, but because of the person playing next to them, they don't get to just do whatever it is they're good at (ie, imbalanced partnerships)
3) We signed them, but until we told them they weren't good enough, they didn't really have the fire to prove themselves
4) We signed them, but they didn't really feel we were their 'last chance'
5) We signed them, but played them while they were injured and this either hampered form or led to longer term injuries
6) We signed them, and they were always a good player, but they just had someone ahead of them who was also a good player
I can think of people to fit every single one of those categories.vladimir likes this. -
If its such a great opportunity then Why havent we had anyone interested in buying us then ?
You would think and as you say a club with the fanbase we have would be a huge opportunity for an investor.. so where are they ? We’re a poison chalice hence the reason no one is interested
This is Rupps doing, he was soo uninterested in this club when he bought us he let his mate who “knew football” run us into league 2 when we were sooo close to the championship. -
