Poison Chalice

It's not a poisoned chalice. That's a cop out. This is a huge club at this level, good revenue, big fan base. What's missing is competence, simple as that. A disinterested owner, novice CEO, a manager who's approach doesn't work at this level and seems to think he's doing us a favour by being here.

We're not cursed. Get capable people, reasonably funded, well led and operating to a sound strategy and we'd fly.

And I'm not having the 'fans are the problem' narrative either. Our fans turn up in their numbers every week and they back players longer than most. But they've been fed a diet of sh*te and incompetence for 20 years.

 

I've been going over 50 years and apart from possibly 10/15%of those seasons have been fed sh*te and incompetence but continue to support the club. Older age and maybe experience are gradually diminishing my enthusiasm

 

You're right, it is not a poisoned chalice. Bradford City is a fantastic opportunity for any manager below the top two divisions. Unfortunately in recent years even when you appoint the right man it goes to pot. I thought Adams was a very good choice but he never looked like succeeding. Mind, how he must have enjoyed today!

I still believe that with the right manager/head coach you can be back in The Championship within three seasons. I never felt Hughes was that man.

 

It's back to incompetence. New buyers don't just pop along, generally speaking. Corporate acquisition is done proactively.

Of course he does dam fool why hasn’t he marched on VP and demanded it. Yes if this job when it becomes available will have many candidates but non from managers secure in a job elsewhere

Spot on. It’s fine though people think Sparks is up to the job because we have more banners in the stadium.

It’s fine because we have an owner who cares more about driving cars on race tracks than Bradford City.

We need someone who gets this club. Someone who knows that getting fans out of their seats goes a long way. Bore the supporters to death and you’re on a slippery slope. Excite them and you’ll be forgiven for the odd slip up. Have a plan and stick to it. Perfect a way of playing and stick to it. Be fair with all the squad and don’t have favourites who play despite their form. Hughes has made a monumental *@?$ up by ripping up the book from last season. It wasn’t far off. Now he’s scrabbling around trying to find something, anything. We’ll be back on the merry go round soon enough…

 

What you’re asking for there is everything Hughes recognised and promised when he first came on board.
He’s doing the very opposite

 

Holywell Ash lane is named after the holy well which they buried under the pitch somewhere near the Bradford end.We need to get a druid in to lift the curse.

 

The problem is really simple it’s an uninterested owner employing incompetent people at the club. People who make football strategic decisions and by my count have cocked up for 3 years.

Club needs a clean sweep and quick… not blaming him but I see Rhodes at the game lurking around I think what impression does he have on sparks ( he wouldn’t by mentor given his poor record)

Our only hope is that someone comes along and goes nuclear clears the lot out including directors hangers on the lot. Club is rotten and until you gut everything it will continue.

 

There was supposed to be a curse, from the "holy well". Didn't Richmond once get a spiritualist in to lift it ?
