Again you are making no sense. By your own logic why didnt he take the knee the year before? Or when he was five? What’s different?

Have you ever come across these very 'liberals' who dislike football and the people who follow it? There as bad if not worse than the football fans who think everyone in the country loves football. Their utter distain for those who 'waste their time watching grown men kick a bag of air about' is very amusing to see.

Just to correct you I'm making no sense to you. That's alright, not everyone gets other people's point of view.

    Nail on the head.

The message is very clear this way, and there wouldn’t be any doubt that anyone who booed this for example would be easily identifiable as a racist.

UEFA used to (and perhaps still do) have players hold up a very similar banner before games and there was never an adverse reaction to it.

It would be refreshing to see City take the lead on this and go down this avenue and let other clubs follow suit.

It was REAL bananas being thrown at black players in the 80's, not inflatable ones. Inflatable bananas were something that Man City fans brought to games in the late 80's.

There's invariably an incident and/or a person in society that spurs on a campaign. Rosa Parks in the bus boycott in 50's Alabama springs to mind. That doesn't mean that she was the first to do such a thing or racial segregation wasn't an issue before that, only that her act caught the public's attention and spurred on others.

I'd argue that the very graphic video of George Floyd's tragic and violent demise was the spark that lit the touch paper of the BLM protests. Plenty of other black people had died at the hands of the police prior to his death. But events conspired (perhaps the fact that the pandemic meant more people were at home watching videos on social media had an impact) that stirred up a lot of latent feelings surrounding racism and prejudice around the world.

Players taking a knee in this country is exclusively a protest against prejudice and racism. Where have the players in this spoke out about their support for Marxism or defunding the police (although this criticism isn't what the likes of Fox news say it is)?

The easiest way for a protest to be denied and deflated is to conflate it with something that many people don't support. In the States, that's 'Marxism' [because they know the word but nothing about the philosophy of historical materialism. And anything further to the left than extreme Capitalism is automatically Marxist in many American's beliefs]. So it came as no surprise that the major ultra right wing media outlets instantly labelled the BLM movement with it.

I've no idea what you're talking about regarding the 9th and Sky Sports?

Oh, I see. You've got privileged access to the inner machinations of footballers minds? That explains it, then.

BLM is a decentralised movement rather than a hierarchical organisation. That means practically anyone who supports it can speak on its behalf. Which leads to a multitude of different opinions, views and beliefs, including, but not limited to Marxist thought.

Marxism is a philosophy, to analyse something through the application of historical materialism [aka Marxism] is to uncover the material conditions of societies over time. That's probably inherently useful to African Americans, who are only there because of slavery. But it's also useful as a put down and a way to 'poison the well', because if these people are Marxists, then it's far easier to discredit and disavow anything they say as they're obviously 'dangerous political radicals' that want to destroy 'Murica in general and good white folks in particular.

Ha ha. My General Studies A level was multiple choice and one of the questions was what is a Freudian Slip. To this day (near on 40 years later) I still recall that my chosen answer was a piece of victorian underwear.

take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Footballers have a platform and are using it to promote a cause. Whats your real issue as it cant really be what you say? even if the knee doesnt work its not harming anyone. No one is telling you to 'check your white privilege', but you probably do have some inherent bias. Otherwise you would be more objective about it.

I remember Roger Eli getting inflatable bananas thrown at him at turf moor when Burnley played so it did happen.

We know black people have died at the hands of the police so have white people the thing is unless it's white on black there doesn't seem to be a issue. Black on black crime is by far the worse trouble that happens between the black community yet where are the protests from BLM and liberals it's non existent. Then Look at the Stephen Lawrence documentary recently he was killed in a unprovoked way as we know and I feel for his family especially his mother and father Doreen and Neville but how many know of you about kriss Donald for instance and what happened to him yet we see no media outcry nor protests is this because he was white and the culprits not?.

As for the sky comment you can't tell me you haven't watched a live game over the past 18 months and not seen what happens in the 9th minute at the top of the screen nor not failed to see banner of BLM laid over empty seats. Even Stevie wonder has seen them.

Going back to taking the knee I will ask again if the players felt so strongly about what was going on they would have done this long before BLM came to town and if they didn't want to be linked to BLM they would have found alternative gesture it's that simple.

Your post has so many hidden bias's it actually highlights the entire issue in a microcosm.

End of the day you simply need to speak the truth. Youre white and you dont want to bend any more than you aready do to anyone lesser than you. Youre happy to live with them, dont want to see them hurt or killed, but you dont want to give way, reach parity, bend, submit, lose influence to them.

Dont speak of BLM as though you have some true understanding of a sinister marxist force. You know thats a load of BS. You just dont want to change, you dont want to admit you have privileges and you dont want to lose your power to black people. Probably because you feel you have already given up enough power over the years.

Dont try hide it. Have some balls and admit it.

That's the funniest thing I have heard one of my best mates who I went to school and was out drinking with on Friday night is black so you have no idea. He knows my feelings and agrees that BLM is dividing society.

What do you say to the likes of Morgan Freeman Denzel Washington Candace Owens little wil to name a few who have spoken out about BLM. What is their privilege or do you call them uncle Tom's

Seeing as you seem to be an expert tell me what my 'inherent bias' might be judging by a few comments on an Internet forum? Should be a laugh.
