Planning for league 2

Perfect summary of our season. But I still think we'll survive.

 

Got to start looking at recruits now for next season, i hope we already know what we want in January but somehow i don't see it as we cannot even get free agents over the line

 

I said its not likely....i dunno wether to laugh or cry....games are 10 am here so im drunk by noon most saturdays

I cannot see a way out of avoiding relegation this season now.

There is a strong possibility that we could be just 1 league higher than Avenue next season, as they moved joint top of Vanarama League North yesterday. That's a sobering thought, and just rams home how the owners have done such a terrible job since taking over the reins

 

Prepare for L2? Certainly. We are going down. But that might not be where we finally land. We’re falling faster than a whore’s drawers on a busy night in Armley.

 

Yeah I’m preparing. Can do Carlisle in an hour from my house across the A69 and hoping Gateshead keep up their decent start and come up. Be lovely to go to a game and be back in my house by 5-30pm.

 

Yep totally agree, I anticipate we will be min 10 points from safety by Jan, that’s 4 wins needed just to get above the drop zone, we are doomed

Who do we have on contracts for next season?

Doyle/Mellor/O’Donnell/O’Connor/Wright/Akpan?

Makings of a fairly decent squad for league 2 with some there but we will need a lot in.

Hope January is a good month

 

I thought yesterdays result ( not the 6 nil we expected) and the stats didn't look too bad for bottom of the league.
Lets get behind Hopkin and what we have, any points before Jan are a bonus

 

I don't think we'll be able to afford those on 6k season ticket sales.

Majority of those you name will be shipped out.

Our squad in League 2 will be full of Bruencker's and Seedorf's.

You have. If we can't shift those out, then next year's squad is hurrendous. Full of kids on £250 a week.

 

At least we'll get a West Yorkshire Derby in the conference.

 

Relegation is a foregone conclusion. The only question for this season is whether we'll go down with a record low points total.

Anyone know the record?

 

Looks to me that Cambridge U. from the 84/5 season had the fewest points: 21. Next is Rochdale from 73/4: 23 (when converted). We're on pace at the moment for 27... Guaranteed safety in the three-points-for-a-win era has been 55; to reach that we need to play our remaining matches at a 1.55 points-per-game clip -- that is pretty well playoff form, and over double our current pace.

Maybe not a foregone conclusion just yet, but one foot is in div. 4 and the other is on a banana peel.

Wow, so based on historical performance we need to achieve another 45 points this season...jeez, we can't keep clean sheets, we can't score...not looking good....thanks for the stats...

 

Yes, history is not our friend here... I'm being a bit arse-y in insisting on 55 points for safety, but once a team on 54 points did go down. 52 pts has been enough in 32 of 37 seasons, so that should be the minimum we aim at. Still, it means almost doubling our current pace.

We got 26 from 38 games in the PL relegation season. From a 46 game season we need 31 to be worse than that, 21 points from 29 games. Can’t see that happening at the moment to be honest
