Take him, he can't do any worse than the current lot. To be fair, I'd sign up any passing living thing.

Paul McLean Caddis (born 19 April 1988) is a Scottish footballer who most recently played for EFL Championship club Blackburn Rovers. He predominantly plays as either a right back or right winger, but due to his versatility, and having two good feet, he can also play at left back and anywhere across the midfield. He has played for both Celtic and Swindon Town in all positions apart from striker and goalkeeper.

Sounds like he will offer the versatility across the park that we need.

In all honesty, if he can prove his fitness I'd take him right now. He has experience of playing in pressure campaigns with Swindon and Birmingham - pretty sure it was Caddis that scored the goal that secured Birmingham's safety on the final day a few years back. Anyone who knows an ounce of game management is welcome in this team.

At 5 ft 7, I think I'd prefer him at right back than centre back but its some welcome cover for many positions as well. Sounds like he's a decent penalty taker as well.

 

Just fit for purpose would do right now!

 

You do realise he's injured and hasn't played for weeks?

 

The problem could be Hopkin not wanting to use too much of his budget on stop gaps rather than longer term players in January.

We’re at least seeing Hopkin doing the negotiations which is a positive and we haven’t heard him complain about the money he’s been given so you don’t know what’s been offered.

 

He'll be ok for 15mins until he starts blowing

You could say the same about every out of contract player. What do you think we should do then - forget about signing anyone at all until January?

 

He played 4 league games for us before getting injured. We lost the first two but looked a stronger unit with him in the side and then drew and won the next two. I'd bet my house that if he'd remained fit and kept playing, we wouldn't have lost every game since he got injured.

 

I wonder how much room we have to play with on the wages/turnover ratio given the ridiculous 40 man squad we seem to have assembled.

 

How nice to have a thread talking about something football related! If he can run and he breathes sign him up, he's got to be better than what we've currently got.

Correct Finley he was at training this morning and not frightened of putting himself around, not the biggest so I can't see him playing central defence, couldn't see either Scannell or Reeves there today.

 

How we miss mcmahon;

riley,mellor,mcgowan,scannell,wood, already tried, anyone i've missed out?

 

Hopkin undecided on whether to offer him a contract. Wants to see him for another weeks training before deciding, which seems fair enough. No point signing someone for the sake of it, or perhaps he has someone else in mind that could do a similar job?

 

How can anyone realistically look forward to January and the 'backing' Hopkin is going to receive if we can't even bring in desperate free agents on short term deals in problem areas we're struggling to cover?

Hang your hopes elsewhere, because January is going to come and go and we'll bring in nothing but cheap.
