I wouldn't say he was outstanding but considering he got us within 1 game of the Championship and then had us in and around the play offs the following year, despite the obvious interference I'd say he did an excellent job, all things considered.

 

By extension, do you feel Greg Abbott did an excellent job as well, given he says he wanted to stay at City to minimise the damage?

He worked in the same situation as Stuart, but he doesn't seem to get much credit.

He came in as head of recruitment pretty much the same time Stuart did; they assembled the squad that nearly got promoted and hung around in the play offs in spite of Rahic's influence.

I wondered if he will be remembered as having done an excellent job, particularly given what we know about the levels of interference from the board room at the time?

 

The comparison is with Parkinson and what he achieved at Bradford City, so yes overall Stuart was a poor nanager in his two spells at Valley Parade. During those to spells we achieved nothing, I don't take pleasure in posting that unlike Ricc who makes out the 5 seasons under Patkinson were poor.

 

The first spell certainly highlighted what a rookie Stuart was. However, his second spell illustrated how 'improved' he'd become. OK, certainly not a great Manager, but much much, more than 'poor', IMO. To work with the team, and 'put up' with ER against him actually showed how good he was. Not the best, but far from a poor choice.
The big difference for me is the fact that many of PP's signings will be remembered for years to come, yet only one or two of Stuarts. PP's 2013 achievement won't be bettered for many years to come.
A point to note ........ Neither PP or S Mc actually managed a relegated BCAFC team !

 

That season Stuart got us to Wembley lets not forget that he inherted the basis of a very good side from the previous manager, he added to it and took us one spep further which was an achievmet in its self when we consider the back ground conditions he worked under
His football at times was very cautious to say the least none more obvious than his Wembley team selection of both starting his 11 and his subs.
Maybe poor was a little harsh but when compared with Parkison he defiantly comes second IMO even accepting the constrains Stuart worked under with regards the mad German.

 

Presumably Jurgen Klopp is a poor manager by the strange working in your head.

After all, he hasn't achieved what Bob Paisley did ......

Stupid comparison but not unexpected from yourself.

Bob Paisley did it many years before Klopp arrived at Liverpool, where as Stuart was our manager following Parkinson's departure.

We know how NM works, Bronco ............. Forever ready to criticise the slightest of faults and quoting out of context, whilst adding very little to any thread or debate.
My money stays where it is, purely because if a poster needs more than two explanations .......... ignore all their questions thereafter.

 

A better comparison would now be pochettino, who built a very good side n was considered a good manager despite not actually winning anything. For the record I think both are good managers or were at their times at each club.

 

I see Omari is doing a sterling job in turning around Wrexham's fortunes.
