I see the point you are making but the size of the penalty
box is the same everywhere and that's where most goals are
scored so pitch size argument doesn't add up.Back in the day
Bronco Layne scored 34 in one season,Bobby Campbell
scored loads for us.I don't know if a striker coach is the answer
but we need to address this lack of goals.

Winning games by as many goals as possible is what fans want
    to see.

We need two things to happen:
    1) We need to get the wider players coming more central when play is on the other side of the pitch, thus helping Vaughan and giving defenders more to think about, and
    2) the midfielders (and also the wide players) need to take a chance and have a shot at goal from further out. How many times do we see them in a position to shoot but they pass the ball to someone else?

This is the thing, we don't need Doyle's goals - we need Doyle's chances.

Doyle misses as many bad opportunities as Donaldson and Vaughan - but he gets more chances.

Anyone who thinks that's down to Doyle is delusional.

He's the same player he was when he was here.

And he's also a far accomplished finisher than you give him credit for?

Fact is Jon, Doyle has made you look like a right prat although I admire your persistence to suggest otherwise. It's both tragic and hilarious at the same time.

I think you answered your own question Bronco.
The answer being when Doyle was being coached by us
he wasn't scoring. You have to fully appreciate a players
best attributes and work out how best he can implement
    them.

I agree we should get better with important players coming
Back and hopefully that will kick start us again.Losing so many
games recently must affect confidence and we can't afford to
play catch up,we need to be in top three and putting pressure
    on.

You're never to old to learn but Id think someone who's been a pro footballer over 20 years is well versed in the strikers role.
Obviously when Collins, Drury and Rahic sighed him they knew all about the way he preferred to pay and how to get the best from him, not one manager/coach has managed to do that since his signing, so IMO it was far easier for Bowyer to loan him out off setting part of his salary to bring players in to cover our weaker areas.
This is the worrying thing to me bring him back and give him the opportunity to prove himself at Bradford City it could cost us games trying to get Doyle to play Bowyers system or change it and hope that brings goals from Doyle.
I was very much in the "bring him back camp" reading some of the comments from the Swindon fans on here Id be happier for Swindon to either make us an offer or take his present contract over and make him an offer when his contract runs out in June.

    Good luck to the lad.

Also hope he keeps scoring for our sake, they might just take over the remainder of his contract if he does.

Explain how it isn't his fault? It's his actions on the pitch that's making people "slag" him off. It's not FIFA and one of us in the stand is controlling him. He's not training hard enough or not developing his skills. That's no one's fault but his own that he's not progressing. Can't expect someone to do it for you.

Ok yes its his fault he isnt a good enough footballer to be playing at this level. Why isnt James Anthony O'Connor playing in the Premier League.... Because he isnt good enough. Thats not his fault though.

Spot on. Happens up and down the country at our level. We take a risk on a player hoping he will come good and we can sell for a profit. The majority of the fan base all supported this idea at the time hahaha Now the majoirty have all chaanged their tune. Not a shock really.
