He's doing the job to the best of his ability, nobody put a gun to the clubs head to offer him the contract so why should he walk away from it. Seems some people only want loyalty from a player when they are good and when you aren't then they are bad for seeing out a contract.

By your method of thinking no footballer should be open to criticism at any time in their career. As soon as a fan states that a player is not good enough, the reply just comes back "it's not his fault" ? Opinion on Mellor, Anderson and Gibson. Is it their fault or can they be criticised? I don't know the rules when it is or isn't a players fault they aren't good enough?

 

Good luck to him. He raised everybodys expectations of him with that winner against Blackpool on debut. I do agree to a point with some of the comments on this thread in so much that if you are an 18 year old car salesman doing well at a local, small independent dealership, and suddenly Aston Martin come along and offer you a very generous package to join them, you snap their hands off and take it in a heartbeat. From your point of view, the experience you'll gain working in the big leagues is invaluable. You'll learn from the best, develop yourself into something better and who knows where that will lead to. But the pressure of working at that level becomes too much, times have changed and they need instant results rather than afford the time to nurture someone making their way in the game and even though you're essentially doing the same job as before, Aston Martin let you go.

Thats as much on Aston Martins recruitment policy as anything else.

I think criticising players based on their performances over a number of games is absolutely fine and as paying customers fans have every right to moan. My main point was that Omari has never had a run of games here and was only 20 years old when he was signed and had no league experience. Had he played 30-40 games in the last 2 years and scored 3-4 goals then id agree but the fact is he hasn’t. The same people on this forum look to blame certain individuals for the collective and it happens every single season. We love a scapegoat.

Omari didn’t not try. He just isn’t up to it. I wouldn’t say that entitles us to slag the boy off and make snide comments about him leaving permanently. Imagine you reading that as a 23 year old trying to make your way in the game. Criticism is fine but surely it has to be constructive.

Ricc suggested McBurnie had talent yet in the 15 games he was here yet he weighed about 9 stone and never looked like a 20million pound player. He clearly had the skills to develop, hundreds of players like Omari don’t.
