Good luck to Parky at Sunderland. Great appointment for him. Cannot imagine the Mackems being overly happy with the appointment though

Echo a lot of the thoughts above (except Ricc), I wish him good luck. Gave us some memories that will be talked about long after I'm gone.
Sure the mackems will be happy with him if he gets them up to Championship whatever his chosen playing style. But as JButterfield said elsewhere, maybe Championship struggles will see him fired sharpish.
Anyway, I hope they don't go up this time, then we'll have a couple of cracking fixtures next season.Bronco likes this. -
If Parky gets the Mackems out of league 1 they won't care how he gets them promoted, they are still a big club compared with us, all the best Parky.

Always love it when people declare that such and such fans demand/expect attacking, entertaining football (e.g. West Ham or Newcastle or Sunderland). Surely all fans want attacking and entertaining football, it’s such a ridiculous comment.
The fact is though that a lot of teams don’t have the quality to do it so sometimes you have to compromise. I’m sure most fans would take success under Parky rather than mediocrity playing lovely attacking football without the results to match. Ross was unpopular because he didn’t get results, his style of football is secondary to that (as with all managers).Bronco likes this. -

I'm sure he will be allowed time, else why would they get his staff from Bolton and give him 18 months?

Parky in big trouble at Sunderland. Lost 7/11 and home fans singing "sacked in the morning" at the end of tonight's game.

I can't see how the fact we played at Wembley and Stamford Bridge is a counter argument for how bad we were to watch in those 5 years.
for one thing, that first wembley trip was pure luck.
the second one shouldn't have been required and we only got there because he bottled automatic promotion.
he is a 1970's relic and not even effective, like Don Revie's leeds but without the results. kick the opposition to bits. park the bus, and hoof to the big fella. if the big fella isn't playing, pick the next tallest and hoof it to him instead. all throw ins must be thrown down the line in the hope of winning another further down the pitch. same with goalkicks, freekicks. the lot.
he isn't a good manager, he might have been if he was managing in the era where football was not about tactics, and skills and finesse, but about how hard you were and how big and strong you were.
and all this is getting proved right now by Sunderland. an abysmal choice and I feel for their fans been put through this.Frank Castle likes this. -

I listen to the Undr The Cosh podcast with Jon Parkin who has played under him along with ex team mates who have done the same. Seems Parky is a really strange bloke and no one seems to like playing under him. Seems he managed to find a select few when he managed us. Seems his methods are strange and does some really strange things behaviour wise. Quite a big section on PP in the Aaron Wilbraham episode the other week at his time with Bolton. Well worth a listen.

The problem with Sunderland is it has no footballing identity! None of them managers really play exciting football and they've gone backwards with the dull football management tactics. It looks like Parky is getting it because they're done with the boredom but will attend because a bit like at Newcastle they live for football.
When Parky put McGeady, Watmore and Wyke on the bench and lose then he's asking for trouble from the Sunderland fans.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Interested Bystander likes this.
