I would love the ref to describe the difference between their penalty and the trip on Sutton in their box? They were almost identical.
Notice how the ref seems to be trying his best not to be a homer. Once again totally inconsistent decision making.

Correct. it's the usual ridiculous expectation some fans have when we get a 'big' signing. To me it's the one weakness of a lot of our fans.

Smallwood does a great job, as that is to protect the defence get the ball and pass it to a creative player - of which he's usually got at least three in front of him. Anything else, is a bonus.

I feel for the lad because he's clearly desperate to open his account with us and had either or both of his decent chances to score last night hit the back of the net, he'd have got that monkey off his back and it would have done wonders for his confidence. Like you say though, the longer it goes on the harder it gets for strikers that aren't scoring, especially if they are coming on from the bench and are expected to make an impact. Let's hope sooner rather than later we give someone a right drubbing and by the time Oliver comes on, we are already 4 or 5 goals to the good so there's no pressure on him to score. That might just help him to bag his first and then hopefully he can really start to kick on.

 

No need to boycott the competition if you're confident that your club isn't going to lose its place in the EFL to a PL B Team and you don't care which of the remaining 71 clubs disappear to allow Man City et al to give their kids a bit of game time to boost their value.

 

Don't kid yourself, normalising the PJT with the U23's is sleepwalking towards B Teams in the EFL. The first offer for increased money to the EFL from TV rights has come with a demand that Championship clubs are obliged to field PL U23's in their teams.

 

If ever a competition needs scrapping, its this one. Whichever guise it has been in, its never caught the imagination of the teams involved until the very later stages.
This has not improved with the inclusion of pl under 23 or 21's.
If they want their younger players to get serious game time,send them all out on loan to the lower clubs and pay for the privilege of having their players developed or better still stop them hogging all the youngster's, most of whom they dump at some point. The greed of premier league clubs never ceases to amaze me. Also i have never bought this crap , its a short career so the player need to earn as much as they can, do they cease to function at 35 and are incapable of doing anything else.
