Hope some on here aren't gonna flip flop with their opinion from game to game. Give Hughes time and he will get it right. I think a few have over reacted to our league start when in reality we aren't that far off from getting it right. Tonight showed we can play well against open sides, if a team comes to park the bus then we will have to be patient.

 

To anybody wondering whether Wednesdays tickets were bought ‘just for the points’..

 

Foulds and Hendrie both having good games. Both staking claims on tonight's performance...

I find the thought of dropping Smallwood truly and utterly hilarious. He wasn't even that bad on Saturday, did very little wrong and did his job in winning possession and giving it to a creative team mate.

We always seem to look for problems that are not there. The issue is not the keeper, back four or midfield two. The issue is a lack of boldness by the creative front three and I very much include Banks in this - although playing Angol in that position was the biggest issues.

Smallwood has not come here a replacement for Watt. He's a midfield enforcer, something we've lacked in years. In fact I'd say he's the first midfield 'boss' Gary Jones.

He needs to be judged for what he's in the team for, not what version of Mason Mount we think we should be getting at L2 level.

 

How good does Odisina look. Must be in contention to link up with Platt

 

I wouldn't drop either Crichlow or Platt - I thought Platt was excellent against Crewe. Good to know we've got options though.

 

Bet one is Periara

 

I think it's far too early to write him off. He's desperate to score and it showed in the two guilt edged chances he missed. We as fans have a tendency to write players off too soon. I believe once he finds the net, he'll find the confidence to bully league 2 defenders and show us the reason why Hughes brought him in. Saying that, he probably came thinking he was the star signing and everyone would be looking for him when attacking, but he's got to earn that billing and put a right shift in to get his critics back onside.

 

I'm not sure in all the years I've ever had a season where the goalie was my favourite player but Lewis is making a good case this season. He's still learning his trade, clearly, but he looks like he'll be a cracking keeper.

 

I never thought I would say it. But all a huge upgrade on Paudie.

 

Hughes has just confirmed on the radio there are likely to be 2 new faces before deadline day! Exciting times.

 

Well that was very enjoyable, watching the guys who have had little game time Hendrie,Foulds, Odisuna, Songo'o's I thought they were all very positive, saw nothing tonight from the lad Oliver to suggest Cook place is in jeopardy, in fact in his short cameo Angol did well up top.

 

In theory youre right but i'll guarantee you if Smallwood is fit he will start every game. He's that important.
