Well we could do with another number 10 if his charity work could extend to playing for us I’m sure they’d be plenty of youngsters inspired to play watching him at Valley Parade, gives him chance to really make a difference…

I would think they will have done their homework and are quite aware of the facilities at Woodhouse Grove , I would think with it being a share facility Woodhouse Grove would have had to given permission.

Riasa ? It's still there but because it's run by Mark Ellis it produces "Megga Players" rather than Mega Players.

No idea why it took a German who once lived in London to think of something like this find it a bit embarrassing on the part of Bradford as a city and also find it a bit embarrassing on part of the club who have failed to unearth a single quality Asian player in decades seem to only hire kids from the same schools

How many "quality" British Asian footballers are there in the entire football league? Why haven't Leicester, Birmingham or Blackburn brought through British Asian players?

Within those answers is also the answer to your question.

Hamza Choudhury is Bangladeshi and is the obvious stand out but not many

How many young Asian kids are given the chance at the youngest level if the answer was quite a few but every single one washed out sooner or later then that would prove something to me but that's not the case

The pathways are open and probably more open than they've ever been. The club even runs trials specifically targeted at young British Asians in the local areas around VP.

What do you want proving? Do you have a suggestion as to why there is such a dearth of young talent coming through from British Asian communities?

Trials is great and I think that's a good start but for various reasons that can be socio-economic or cultural acceptance or whatever not all kids get to go to trials and the club need to be looking at how they can go to the source and find talented youngsters

There does seem to be a dearth of young talent from the British Asian community as you say but all that says to me is it's untapped and if it remains untapped then the method of extraction simply aren't up to scratch because there's no way that out of 4.2 million British Asians or whatever that there is only one good footballer it's just simply not plausible I don't know what do you think?

How would you look to dig deeper?

Me? I've no idea. That task is a full time role and one that up to press hasn't been fully answered.

Your original point was that it's "embarrassing that the club aren't sourcing these young British Asian players", I'm simply suggesting you're going way over the top and I imagine it's much more difficult than anyone making flippant comments on a forum realises.

The club are using precious resources and finances aimed at trying to create links and with that tap into the talent pool, of that there is no doubt. All you have to do is search the various social media platforms or look on the clubs own website from time to time.

I think it is embarrassing that a player like Ozil is doing more than a club with a massive reach in a massive community all I can think is the club didn't know there were people out there willing to invest in the search for talented young British Asian footballers but call me crazy if I think the club probably were or are aware of initiatives people tried to start up but just didn't believe in it

For me the club doesn't even need to be a massive investor as long as they're at the forefront of the search for all we know this initiative from Ozil will take kids from Bradford that the club weren't able to identify over the past few decades and generations and redistribute them all over the country

That would be an immense failure and one I'd like to know for sure that the club have guarded against

Its a fair idea but I don’t like the idea of exclusivity, as it appeared on the piece on the news last night. Why just south asians? Can kids from other backgrounds attend?

The idea probably fizzle out unless barriers within the own South Asian community can be broken down.

genuine question as really interested to know…are many Asians playing in the Junior local leagues? When i played 20 years ago there was one Asian lad in our team and one other lad in a league of about 12 teams.

is that still the case or are we getting the numbers in junior teams but they are dropping out before turning pro? Would really like to know. I hope things have changed.
