Everyone deals with their emotions differently, and IMO if you made the effort to travel all the way to Crawley (our furthest away trip of the season) then any grief given to the players and/or manager is fully justified

It was the first game of the season ffs, there are no acceptable excuses for their abject display on Saturday. If the team can't look fresh, fit and fully up for the challenge against a poor team, we might as well shut up shop now and turn the lights off. Most fans are starting to get pissed off with it all, the lack of effort, the poor players we signed, inept management. Season after season we have failed whilst watching the likes of Stevenage and Forest Green win promotion. So even though I would not usually moan after the first game, on this occasion I don't think it is an overreaction for fans to vent their spleens

Your correct but lets not forget Mark Hughes has had 3 transfer windows in which to bring in said players and get rid of those who cant adapt.

That's a bit harsh unless you have stats Harrogate conceded more once Matty moved there on loan, he also played 18 time for us who only conceded 43, again did we concede more during his starts.
I can't remember him letting us down and although Mark Hughes had his take on Matty not staying and fighting for his place I'd suggest with Ridehalgh and the new lad Bola in front of him he did the right thing and took his chance playing regular football at Harrogate Town.

Yet Wright had been on loan at previous club and didn't rip any trees up, with loan players that happens, if the loan player was exceptional at ever club he's loaned out to his parent club would be taking a serious look at bringing him back a developing him there.

So we bring players in that various posters on football forum recommend, that's a novel idea and it would save Gents salary ;)

There's a pattern emerges in the thoughts of the modern day football fan. We lose and every player is crap, the exact same players become great again if they win the week after.i don't think perspective ever comes into the thinking. There were a lot of results on Saturday that defied logic, take Oldham for instance. They signed James Norwood, their fans are ecstatic and they get pumped 5-0 by the shitshow that is Southend.

Saturday was a disappointment for us but I've seen far worse in the last five years. Still time for new players to come in and injured ones to come back. The pressure is definitely on Hughes but not right at the moment. Let's see where we are month or two down the line, not making crazy judgements after one game.

I have often wonder whether Gent actually scouts players or simply looks at a list of available players and thinks "he sounds OK, let's sign him" !!
Going by the likes of Bola and Costello etc, he surely can't have watched them play?

I'm not saying he's signing them. He signs the cheques that put the people in place who sign them.

Whilst losing on Saturday was a massive disappointment,I don’t think the main gripe from most people was that we lost,it was the fact that Hughes doesn’t seemed to have learned what is his best way of setting the team up.
If you are playing wingbacks then sign wingbacks.
I’ve not done any coaching badges but I know that Halliday and Ridehalgh aren’t wingbacks but Oyegoke is.
Hughes however chose to play him at CH.

It’s the usual thing of having players and then turning them in to something rather than buying specific players for specific positions.

He also favoured Taylor, who has the speed and turning circle of an oil tanker over Platt and completely ignores Odusina, who everybody knows has the pace to play in a back 3.

In my opinion the biggest disaster from Saturday was that Hughes seems to have learned sod all from last year.

I agree that if we lose on Saturday it will get toxic but that will be tempered if the performance massively improves.
If the performance is the same with players looking completely lost and out of position then he deserves all he gets.

It's not just based on just Saturday which the majority of folk have pointed out.......... It's based over the last twelve months and Saturday had all the signs of the same happening again this season ..........I couldn't care what any other team does it's us and us alone that matters I mean are we gonna keep comparing the Wrexham results with ours to try and justify our result .............Wrexham got of to a bad start if we wanna go there bit I know who I would rather have over the two coaches ...............You know Saturday was a blip for Parky can you say the same for Hughes

Admittedly Harrogate did improve their goals against once he went.
But the other argument was that we were really good defensively when he played and went downhill once he left.
    That’s just not true.
Before he went we had a goals against of 0.96 a game.
After he went it improved to 0.90.

I'm not sure other than Trevor anyone agreed, but as I posted I can't remember a game where he let us down, and it looks like he made the right call he'll be a regular starter at Harrogate so good luck to the lad.

Are our fans gonna be like this every time we.dont get what we think we deserve? I'll be honest, I thought Hughes team selection was annoying but then I thought his comments about the pathetic referee were correct and it had a bearing on the result. I'm not wanting to come across as a Hughes apologist, he's on thin ice with me after his approach to the Play off games which was diabolical. But personally I'm not gonna lose my shit after the first game of the season as it clearly has no bearing on what will happen for.the rest of it.

We may have actually improved our defensive record because we went more on the foot during the 2nd half of the season compared to his time here ............ I actually thought it wasn't a strange thing to let him.go but I think it's more than that along with Young

Foulds was made out by some to be fair worse than he was. A bizarre decision by Hughes to bring in an absolute failure in Bola and then ask him to 'fight for his place'. The problem never was Foulds.

No but if you start of like that then it will produce a negative reaction and please forget the ref ....... One up top against a team that will struggle to stay in the league and did we really look like hurting them when it came to the later stages when it was time to have ago ??????
    No not at all

Although I was disappointed with the result I thought until the sending off we were very much in the game, but what you have to query is as some have pointed out, up until late last week Crawley were in a shocking state only a handful of players until they apparently brought a few non-league lads in to boost their squad yet still had enough to get all three points.
The sending off helped them without doubt why anyone on a yellow who sees the referee showing them like they were going out of fashion do you mistime a challenge or give the referee the slightest chance to give you a second yellow followed by a red.
There was little in the two sides even acknowledging they hit the wood work twice, so I agreed with Hughes comment about the wall but I can't accept his referee comment I thought he was too quick to dish out cards but lets not forget Crawley had a player booked before our first card Gordon in the 11th minute and then Kelly in the 15th so use you bl00dy head guys and don't give the referee chance to give you a further yellow.
