Never seen a 17/18 year old look so comfortable on the ball, whilst also having the positional sense of a player far beyond his years.

Big difference is that Oli excelled as a youth player. He didn’t develop at City because the style of football under PP won’t have helped him. But he always had the ability.
He scored 1 in 3 whilst loaned briefly to Chester.
He then scored 3 in 8 appearances whilst on loan to L2.
By then time he knocked in 9 in 17 for Barnsley in the Championship, I think everyone realises he was getting better and better.

    Now let’s compare to Patrick;
Failed to score in 18 appearances whilst at Kidderminster
Scored 2 in 19 for City in L1
Joined Yeovil in L2 on a loan and couldn’t get games because he was so poor. He managed just the one goal.

We really want to compare them?

The thing with McBurnie is his eye for goal he is a natural finisher. Which makes up for a lack of pace usually associated to a premiership striker.
Didn’t develop at City he was 18 he wasn’t there long enough to develope. Due to injuries he was asked to do a job he was physically unable to do. He was snapped up by Swansea had he not been who is to say he wouldn’t have made it here as well..
Patrick is a bit older and whilst he has pace he seems to lack anything else

I don't think he got pelters, apart from the usual misfits who would give Ronaldo pelters. i think there was a lot of support for him

But with more of a plan to develop than we could give him. We weren't really in a position as a club to develop that talent and Parkys track record with young uns is hardly inspiring.

He's not daft, he will have known about the McBurnie situation. At least hang around long enough to get the cash back off that deal. he will have factored this into his spending.

Yes we need to unearth another player now who can generate some income for the club as in the last few years we have pulled in monies from these young players that has helped the club stay on its feet financially. In this latest transfer the money generated from it was effectively wasted by Rahic as it will be have been used to offset the debt he built up Mr Rupp had provided to the club.

Exactly. Richard Sutcliffe is a very experienced journo and is careful in what he writes. His nuances and subtleties in his writing are very important. It would be better for everybody's understanding if they read what he has written carefully and not just respond to the headline or read into it what they might wish.

This is the critical sentence from Sutcliffe

“As it stood before this went through, Stefan (Rupp, City’s owner) would have had to cover the losses we have made and expect to make this season."

Or if you like, the McBurnie money has saved Rupp from having to put any of his own money into the club to cover the deficit. That's similar to what Sutcliffe had said in an earlier article when he referred to Rupp having pledged to cover the deficit which infers he hadn't done so as yet.

But if people wish to believe otherwise, that's a matter for themselves.

I’m not sure a lot of people understand how football financing works Den, this wonderful notion that Stefan sees the balance sheet is in the negative so he goes to the cash machine and draws £2 million out of his own bank account to pay it off. He’s an astute businessman and will have been watching the McBurnie saga with eyes wide open. Its his get out of jail free card for letting Rahic go unchecked with the company credit card.

I spoke to him at Winter Wonderland in London last week. Great laugh. Was expecting the usual dickhead footballer syndrome but the total opposite. The whole Sheff United squad was there. Bumped into Nakhi Wells too. Always amazes me how slight footballers are. You expect them to be a lot more solid but in reality are built like twigs.
