I spoke to him at Winter Wonderland in London last week. Great laugh. Was expecting the usual dickhead footballer syndrome but the total opposite. The whole Sheff United squad was there. Bumped into Nakhi Wells too. Always amazes me how slight footballers are. You expect them to be a lot more solid but in reality are built like twigs.

 

That is so true, I bumped into McCarten in a Saltaire bar last year, skinny as..... yet some gave him grief for being overweight. I saw Adam Chicksen later and he looked about 14!

 

Chicksen played like he was 14 as well.

 

You hear about players being told to lose muscle. Many a footballer is wiry but don't underestimate their strength. Bit like rock climbers

 

Just on against Virgil et al. Would love him to to make Virgil look silly and score a cracker but we are talking possibly the best central defender in the world right now.

I just saw the stretch and poke, just could not get enough on it. The real point I was trying to make was that it is great to see him up against arguably the best central defender in the world. Whether McBurnie becomes a premiership stand out is another discussion but he has come a long way.

McBurnie never stopped running didn't the kid out on his arse at the end, shame Francis brought him down near the end of the game as much as McBurnie suffered with cramp I fancied him to go past Francis and maybe get a shot on target or maybe score, Wilder's has them playing well not parking the bus and going at teams.
