If you read Julian’s comments it says it will plug the gap from last year and this that Stefan would have had to cover, so he never actually covered it yet. He was just there to do so when needed. This was discussed a number of times on here about if he had already had to put more cash in and it looks like the answer was no.

    Very much so, TE.
IF City can sign a couple more quality players, and realistically challenge for the Autos, then it's a Win Win situation for Rupp, the Club, Team and Supporters

The bit I don’t understand is it is quoted we had a budget of a 3 ml last season but we spent 4.1 ml and yet it is quoted we lost 2 ml last season so where has the rest come from

To be fair, that's a pretty standard statement from Rhodes. He'd have found an imaginary gap that needed plugging even if we were in the black.

Me and you both. It literally dawned on me yesterday that the only benefit we will get is paying off Rahic incurred debt. What is even more galling is that splurge was completely unnecessary if he had just listened to the various wise words he will have received, that’s if he hadn’t already sacked them. Great that we are able to level up, but we might have been able to invest the money into the squad or the club.

One is the playing budget, which we over spent by 1.1m, the 2m is loss. So maybe income dropped, or we over spent on none playing side eg sacking managers and paying them off etc or a combination

    Finally someone that gets it.

Rhodes is one of the reason this club is where it is now. Hopefully now this club will kick on.

    No excuses now.

Glad we are plugging the hole first with this money. It should be seen as a bonus and a chance to hit the reset button a bit.

Not on a wild over spend again in an attempt to get promoted. A tighter knit squad with most on similar wages and good team spirit will be better.

I still think Bowyer will get an option to get his extra men in he needs and hopefully some in reserve to fund a January top up.

    Best way to do it

Problem is the football world is over spending.

Utd spending 85m on a Harry Maguire some pub player gives you an indication of how bad the transfer market is. Even McBurie isn't worth 20m.

So unfortunately we will have to over spend on players because clubs like Utd are foolish and ruining the transfer market.

Forget the premier league. Each club receives silly money and they know if they are relegated they get parachute payments and are still ok.

If we do our research and scouting there is plenty of good players out there to sign. Ones who can’t get in because of the money higher up.

Exactly. Richard Sutcliffe is a very experienced journo and is careful in what he writes. His nuances and subtleties in his writing are very important. It would be better for everybody's understanding if they read what he has written carefully and not just respond to the headline or read into it what they might wish.

This is the critical sentence from Sutcliffe

“As it stood before this went through, Stefan (Rupp, City’s owner) would have had to cover the losses we have made and expect to make this season."

Or if you like, the McBurnie money has saved Rupp from having to put any of his own money into the club to cover the deficit. That's similar to what Sutcliffe had said in an earlier article when he referred to Rupp having pledged to cover the deficit which infers he hadn't done so as yet.

But if people wish to believe otherwise, that's a matter for themselves.

    NO Fordy, NO !

TV sponsorship is ruining the game ............ The PLAYERS are getting all the dosh, not Clubs. (Take Paulo Dybala, as an example ....... He is demanding a mere £350k per week, to move to Man U !!).
