Bit of double standards here. It’s ok for Oliver to rob a wage then go to Stevenage, fire them to promotion and he goes with everyone’s best wishes.
Why then did everyone find it utterly galling that Jake Young scored 15 goals for Swindon?
Swindon aren’t challenging for a play off place and nor are we so it matters not one iota to us whether we let him stay there.

Back to Oliver, the infuriating bit is not really if he scores goals at Stevenage but more that we as a club fail to get the best out of players that we have in the building who then go on to do very well elsewhere.
    Examples.
    James Vaughan
    Eoin Doyle
    Abo Eisa
    Jake Reeves
    Elliot Watt
    Jake Young

    5. Try before you buy. If it doesn't work out, you aren't lumbered with an aging player on high wages for 3 years.

Or in our case try and then don’t buy.
    Examples.
    Wright
    Banks
    Crichlow

5th ? He's only 19 goals off 3rd and has potentially another 100 plus games left on his contract. Another six goals this season will move him above Gerry Ingram in 7th and just behind Joe Cooke in 6th. If we don't get promoted in the life of his contract, I expect him to surpass Windass on 76.

As it stands the club has four strikers. Cook, Smith, Young and Derbyshire. Unless one of them leaves, it really shouldn’t be necessary. A creative and goal scoring midfielder would be more useful to the team, with Walker and Pattison spending a significant amount of time out.

Two of those will feature little going forward imho. Derbyshire and Smith.

So that leaves us with Young and Derbyshire?

    Why stop there........

Just look at the Carlisle squads from the last 2-3 years and you can pick a handful.

I'd hazard a guess that over 80% of players perform better once they leave us. A sad indictment of the state of affairs at our club.

I think majority have the heart of a fly and their arseholes go playing in front of large crowds. More than happy with performing in front of 2-3k of their fans which is why 80% are perrenial lower league players from day 1 to retirement.

    Less pressure. Easier.

Which is why it's worrying 11 of our 19 remaining games are at home.

Even more reason to put prices up. Win win.
5000 crowds = better performing lower league players.
15000 crowds paying higher prices = better players not phased by big crowds.

And that explains why players like Andrew Davies, Rory McArdle, Stephen Darby, Gary Jones, James Hanson etc never had an issue with it, because they all had the heart of an ox.

I don't care if he fires Stevenage to the Championship he offered little whilst he was at Valley Parade when he was fit, so it won't impact on anything that happens here, unless he finds his scoring boots and we can get a few bob for him come the end of the season.
Examples they may be but I'd suggest very poor examples.
Vaughan even though his excuse was to be nearer home lasted a season at Tranmere.
Eoin Doyle was coming to the end of his career and lasted a further 2 seasons, I'll agree he was a big disappointment at Bradford City.
Abo Eisa yes he's really tearing league two up.
The same Elliott Watt that has been at Salford City still in league two since leaving Valley Parade, having said that I would be happy to have a fit Elliott Watt in our midfield.
Again Jake Young is another poor example with regards him doing better elsewhere as long as Hughes was here he was never going to be given an extended run and until he gets game time with us neither you or I know what he could offer, I hope he gets the chance but unless he's in the squad on Saturday we fans are left guessing the situation.

We tried to meet Plymouth's valuation but couldn't we told so the lad went to a team who were amongst the runners for promotion.
Banks was moved out by Palace to what they believe would be better for his development, not sure how that's going as he's only been involved in 3 games he could be injured ?.

Critchlow was a free agent when his contract ran out at the end of 2023 so he chose to join a team in a league one who could be amongst the runners for promotion to the Championship, but not been good enough to command a regular start at Peterborough.

Very nasty injury, could stunt/end his career. Very sad. https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportlatest/23764858.ex-bantams-loanee-scott-banks-suffers-acl-injury-st-pauli/
