Any defence would have been a "car crash" in that first half, with that set up against a team that relishes attacks through the middle / diagonal running.

And of course with Taylor in there and a very unfit looking LB (who did get better as the game went on)

Let's remember we've still got three of the back four readily available, who conceded less than a goal a game last season. LB looks a bit of a problem area though and playing Taylor means we have even less mobility and I still don't understand why Tomkinson isn't been given a run.

His body language is all wrong and it's sheer selfishness that arguably prevented us from scoring a third goal.

He's constantly quick to berate everyone else. That's fine, but he's missed at least eight relatively easy chances in the matches against Stockport, Swindon, Wrexham and now Notts County.

I don’t want to kill enthusiasm after the second half comeback, as credit where it is due, but they went 4-0 up and switched off. Williams made all those subs to try spark some life into them, and we still dominated.

He showed an ability to be an ariel threat an to hold the ball up for the players around him. Unfortunately, he was ineffective due to Hughes tactics. No point having a target man if your gonna just pass the ball around the back all game

 

Just seen an article linking him with Carlisle but saying he’s not back fit yet. Bring him in on trial see how far away he is

They didn't do the job at all. Cook's poor finishing did the job. They have no control over the 2 gilt edged chances Cook missed, that's purely on him. We should've at least made it 4-3 in the second half with 10 minutes to go.

 

We went from losing three on the trot to getting 7 points from 4 games, when he came in. Frankly, I'd take that right now.

I think the jury should be out on Oliver. During seasons 2020 to 2022 he was scoring 1 in just under every 3 for over two seasons at L1 level and that was for a lower table team.

He's playing because the club is so badly run we decided to not have back up in that position. Said last week he doesn't warrant a place in the starting eleven at the moment. A decent striker today gets two at least today. That three year deal looking a bit daft as he gets slower and slower.
