Eisa shouldn’t even make the bench for the remaining games. The guy has been a huge let down, and is unnerved by a light gust of wind. Certainly not the type of player we need on the pitch as long as we have something to play for

Can not believe some of our so called fans. We go to Crewe on Wednesday looking for a win that could push us within touching distance of automatic promotion, Yes it is still a long shot, but the chance is still there.
Win mid week and next Monday should be a sell out.

100% agree. Hughes, no matter how many moan about his tactics, have delivered us something not seen in years - a promotion chasing squad that's been in the race all season.

Football is the most unique sport in the world. No other sport could see you battered like that and yet come away with a win. It's why it's always important to play to the end and for once something goes in our favour. Cook and Lewis again seeing us home with goals and saves. Effectively gives us a free hit against Crewe. If we win at Crewe Valley Parade should be a full house against Orient.
    What a crazy day.

Do you know what Dave, we've had enough shit over the last five years to last football lifetime. We deserved a slice of luck like we got today for all the crap we've put up with. Lets smash these playoffs now.

Yep, it's definitely majority Hughes' squad.

He's getting a little extra patience from me, personally, though, given he's never managed at anything remotely close to this level, and he's had a successful season.

He does need to make changes, to HIS signings, but he'll get it right. I've no doubt we'll be competitive in either division next year.

Fans can nitpick but our defence is the third best in league. What we do for the majority of the time works well. Well enough to see us in with a sniff of the autos. Our weaknesses lie elsewhere.

If we'd not conceded against Gilligham in the 421st minute, we'd be in a position of needing to win our last 2 games to go up automatically.

Just watched the winning goal. Smallwood picks up the ball after it bounces out of the net and tw ats it out of the ground.:laughing:

Halliday has been out most consistent player all season. With a decent foil in front of him he'll work all game. No frills, just steady.every week.

Northampton are a pressing team and has we have found all season our tactics play right into their hands. On Saturday we should have been on the front foot from the start rather than giving Gillingham the momentum. We need a different mentality and different tactics on Saturday

Thanks for the informative write-up – nice counterbalance to the other Cobbler.

As has been said, we seem to come unstuck against teams that can operate anything that resembles a functional press. Despite having some good ball players, teams like Hartlepool & Gillingham had a lot of joy at VP with a simple press that disrupted our usual gameplan. An area of concern for us is at the back where we’ve become quite leaky. Following an impressive run of seven clean sheets in ten (four conceded), we’ve only managed three clean sheets in the last nine (nine conceded) - and two of those clean sheets were against lowly Crawley & Rochdale.

We seem much more comfortable away from home barring the recent result at Swindon where we failed to adapt to a handful of injuries on the night. The most notable loss was Harry Chapman who was putting together his best form of the season and his replacement, Theirry Nevers, has struggled. But away from home we seem happier to mix it up and our away form across the season is very strong.

Cook is obviously the main man for us but its players like Jamie Walker & Scott Banks that really get us playing well. If they have a good game, we’re a match for most. Expecting a response from us but we’ll need a big improvement if we want to get the result we need.

He did ok at Forest Green. Started off well with us.

Only 21 so time yet to improve. I personally think he has something and ive not seen anything better from Costelleo and Nevers.

I'd stay with Critchlow yes the first goal against Gillingham was down to him but he's not poor in the air and he does try to play football we need to keep the ball today as we saw how well Northampton can be on the break.
