    In recent years there has been a pre season tour but there seems to be nothing scheduled this year. Wonder if it is cost cutting

    Doesn't bother ME.
    And IF it IS cost cutting, then good. WE need as much in the playing budget, as we can get. Hell, expect another pass the bucket, in our first Home friendly ! ;)

    it is cost cutting, they planned a tour before they decided to/were forced to do the pitch work - they cancelled the tour to help fund the pitch.

    There is still space for a tour at the start of July but if that was to happen then it would probably be a training camp rather than a tour with matches played. There's nothing down for the end of July yet so that could be an option and would probably be a better time to go as one of the reasons for a tour is for team building so by the end of July we will have most of the players in.

    If it is the choice between a better pitch or a pre season tour, then in my view, quality pitch work must be the priority.

    Which to be fair is the correct decision, its all about fitness so the calibre of opposition is not paramount.

    I have never understood this 'idea' of a pre-season 'tour'.
    I mean - shit .......... tear players away from their comfort zones and creature comforts ?
    Well ..... just WHAT are City to learn against some Euro 7th graders - say to Brighouse, or North Ferriby? And lets face it - City will be playing (I expect) the English way ........ So why not local opposition ? More to the point ...... Why NOT a higher level, if we want to push, and test ourselves ? I'd rather we play friendlies against Man City and Utd reserves, than some part time hick boys, overseas !

    In two years the German regime have a net spend on transfers that is around £0.5m higher than the previous one. Fact

    The previous regime, even with the benefit of two fantastic cup run's the previous season, meaning that they had greater 'spend' for two out of their last three seasons - still struggled to finance us. Fact.
