To be quite fair RT, the fans expectations at the start of any season are fired up by the likes of Ryan Sparks who, in order to sell season tickets etc, make bold statements such as "we are going for it this season" " this club will not accept mediocrity" "we will have a leaner, meaner squad" "quality over quantity" No wonder the fans then get expectant and then vent their frustration and anger when served up with crap week after week.

I couldn’t care less what others think of City Fans expectations of promotion and or entertaining football. Correct me if I am wrong on this but isn’t football a competitive activity? Then what is the point of turning up unless you want your team to win every single match? It doesn’t always happen but our expectations are part of football and should be played competitively. Part of that is that you want to be top of the league and gain promotion. So those that feel our expectations are not appropriate can keep their thoughts to themselves.

I really don't mind. The fans don't get a say in the appointment and it's down to Sparks and Rupp to make the decision. They don't have a great track record with the appointment of past managers so maybe it's time for a change! Lady Luck has to be brought into play at some point

That’s very very true, on the other foot , we would be critical if he wasn’t “promoting” the club.

I mean, our fans were going crackers at Crawley, the first game of the season, because we lost with 10 men one single game after the play offs. Great start to the season that in terms of support. We booed every single home game we didn't win - literally every single one, either at half time or full time.

We fell out with Bowyer whilst actually in the play offs.

If that's not utterly embarrassing, we're lying to ourselves here Rog.

We can keep making excuses for failure, but at some point the lack of leadership at the club has to be acknowledged. Nobody is able to get the fans onside, or call for calm, or plead for patience, certainly not with any effect.

So now we wait for that magical manager who is not only better than everyone else, but who ticks all the stylistic boxes, is 'entertaining', waves their arms manically on the sidelines (passion?), and perfectly man manages every single player in the squad.

    I dunno.

Pretending none of that is an issue seems naive.

And for me, it all stems from the ownership situation. We feel rudderless and cultureless as a club, and even more so as a fan base in terms of expectations.

All the good feeling of two wins under McDonald isn't gonna last, and we're going round and round in circles.

It seems to be out of fashion to call out the obvious flaws that were acceptable to post just last month...

    Great point, BiG.

That isn't leadership that befits this club

People get really touchy about our support - but that support is informed from up high, and often with waffle and sales speech, and generally act accordingly.

If we have to think of 'blaming the support' as actually blaming the running of the club, would that make it easier to swallow?

Surely you have more to offer than that @Fordy117@Fordy117 , you've been ultra critical of Sparks and his appointments so far but rather than offering a candidate you quote the above, just give us a name, I'm sure me and many more will be wide of the mark but keeps the interest going.

Lennon a die hard Glasgow Celtic fan the other a die hard Glasgow Rangers fan although it could go deeper, it doesn't have to be like that any years ago 1966 I believe a gang of us City fans including @Bantam-in-Greece@Bantam-in-Greece went for a week in Blackpool and meet two Glasgow lads who were best mates yet one was a Celtic fan the other a Rangers fan, we had a blast with the pair.

Watching the Notts County/Mansfield Town game its a pleasure to watch two teams who can play that system a very good advertisement for league 4 football.
Wow what a display by Mansfield to go to Meadow Lane and stick 4 (at the moment) past Notts County is some feat as well as playing great football, maybe the point at Field Mill asnt a poor result, then again lets remember how long Cloughy has been manager there.

**so funny**so funny believe it (@Onside@Onside) will back me up the first home game of the season against Colchester where the team looked anything but confident playing Hughes possession football and eventually Lewis pratting about so much he lost the ball, I had a go at Hughes (yes difficult) from the second tier in the Sunwin and actually got criticised for not clapping getting behind the team, to which I said if your happy with what your seeing fine but this is worse than last season which was hardly entertaining, so yes for some its seems to be the answer clap harder to make Valley Parade a fortress.

You need to make your mind up Jon.

You were staunchly against changing managers for weeks because "we'll only appoint the wrong man anyway".

Then you decided after Walsall that actually, Hughes had to go and we should risk it.

Now, after 2 wins in 2 under the caretaker manager you're saying that the club is a shambles from top to bottom, the fans are mainly to blame and nothing will change because we don't accept we should be a bottom division club? I asked you in my last post what we could be doing better as fans, perhaps you've got some ideas?

Apologies if I'm miles off though Jon but lately it seems that you're flip flopping all over the place without actually making any kind of legible point that I can make out.

I've been clear as day that the leadership of the club was a major issue, and most of my posts are informed by that belief.

Before, during, and after Hughes' reign, I said we needed a DoF and some real footballing people at the club.

That has never changed. You won't find any posts from me where i even hint that that isn't the main problem.

But we sack Hughes, win 2 games, and everyone forgets. It's frustrating.

    There's no mystery. We're a clueless club.
