The thing is that lots on here were critical of Hughes lack of experience with teams in the lower levels of the EFL. McKenna came from an ‘elite’ Premiership club to one in League 1, yet achieves success.
So how come McKenna can make the transition, yet Hughes sadly failed.

Rather than get a well worn manager from the merry go round of the sacked, perhaps it is time to go for someone who is younger and relatively untested. The next crop of successful managers have to start somewhere.

Dave they have a lift from the back of concourse on the JCT Main Stand up to the higher levels. I am fairly certain that given your current mobility issues you would be able to use it.

I do use it mate but its the steps down to my seat although its only 5 rows down, well not so much going down but more back up, there's always Jimmy Cuthbertson and Ian Cooper ready to give me a pull, but if I can get back for Parky & Co I'll be more than happy, thanks mate.

McKenna has been a coach since he was in his early 20s and taken on board advice and seen many different styles of football from the best there is.
Hughes is arrogant and thinks he knows best.
If he'd have taken anything from Fergie it's that you need to attack to win games.
If he'd have taken anything from his time abroad he would have been able to recognise a defensive midfielder as on the continent they were the kings of it in the 80s and 90s.
Instead we shoehorn Oyegoke and Gilliead in there.
He's not taken anything in to be a great manager.
McKenna on the other hand is a real student of the game.

Absolutely right , hence real reluctance on who I’d fancy Andy. Who I don’t want wouldn’t be a problem though.

I agree , no matter who we recruit , or indeed anyone recruits it’s a lottery . About 20% chance of getting to the play offs isn’t it? That’s a lottery for sure.

If McD gets a few good results as BCAFC manager I can see him being the full time gig!

    You heard it here first.

If we play like that every week give him the job if he'll take it. Hardest working performance all season. Terrific to watch and we made a very good team team look pretty ordinary.

    That is always the fear.
At least McDonald broke your caretaker curse.
I believe if a caretaker is having a successful run, and the new manager isn't lined up, let him go on and on in the caretaker role. Either the good form will wear off and you can appoint from outside, or you'll go up as Champions!

McDonald doesn’t want the job. He’s already come out and said he wants to go into management one day, but for now he’s focused on being a player.

We obviously have a track record with Trueman getting very good results during his stint as caretaker manager.

I'm not averse to appointing the caretaker manager, as long as it is not just because it is the cheapest option.

I have seen this statement on these very pages.

Maybe he is being totally honest, maybe not.

Discussing options, musing, conjecture, the very keynotes of this forum.

I think that was partially the problem. Hughes approach to games is one adopted by teams from higher leagues. Had he squeaked us through to promotion last season, a slightly better quality of player would have been attracted to the club and he may well have flourished in a slightly higher league. We will of course never know now.
