It doesn't need to get massively better. It's not like we need to turn 4-0 defeats into wins.

We need to turn 1-1 draws into 2-1 wins.

We don't need to reinvent, we just need to improve. Will it happen? That will largely depend on our forward players clicking, for my money.

But we absolutely need to look past current form, which is mediocre at best - but form isn't permanent.

Could be a weird atmosphere for Newport tomorrow. Likely one of the final home games as a fan owned club as it seems Huw Jenkins has been selected as the preferred bidder. Also, their manager Graham Coughlan is the favourite for the Cheltenham job.

Might be a good amount of distractions to help us?

Either way a welcome return of a focal point up top.

Maybe just me, but I think Cook thrown back in and Smallwood dropped may have come from a talk with those at the top that we must get a result today? Feels like Hughes has had to go for it today as I think if the fans were not on his back, Cook would make the bench and we play the usual lineup

Without jokes, credit to Hughes here. He's changed it up and the changes have made all the difference. Could easily be 0-5

 

The reason for that is Newport play open attacking football much more room than last week with 9 at the back for Harrogate

 

I read that he was the only ref who had playing experience.
Had to retire from playing at 28,so became a ref.

Has to make a difference if he can understand what he did as a player and transfer it to reffing.

 

I'm delighted we look like getting all three points I must have missed where Hughes said he might play Cook as in his pre Newport interview he didn't.
Just missed Cooks hat trick typing this reply .

 

I’m not being wise after the event but we had to be better when Cook was back firing.

Once again,I know he played in the shit games but he’s too good a goal scorer at this level to keep missing.
Had the right service today and he’s shown what he is - a decent lge 2 scorer.

I still think that Pattison will come back and get double figures this season as well.

Andy Cook saves Hughes. What a player he is for us, problem is of course, we rely on him too much.

We must bring in another striker in January who can share the burden.

Well done to the rest of the lads today, sounded a very positive performance. More of the same at home please.

Osadebe, for me, is one of the worst players we've ever had in my years watching City who seems to get regular game minutes from the bench

 

Walker also bailing us out in the poor games, too.
