Hello every one, I managed Tyler at Under 10s (he was playing a year up). I didn't want to manage him, I turned up, with my boy, on signing up day to be told the previous years manager had phoned that morning to say he didn't fancy it, and he named me as the manager ( I had helped him put the goals away once). I grew up in America and I was a good football player, bit shite at soccer to be honest. Still, if I didn't do it the team might have folded. Now my attitude, and coaching style, was let the kids have fun, end of, they are 8 and 9 years old. So that season I saw my role was to spend my time asking people to sush. ( it was based on a theory I read in a child psychology/ sports coaching book) We actually finished 2nd that year and one (very experienced in youth soccer coaching) Dad said he had never seen a youth team play such in such a refined manner. I can't take any credit, I just said have fun and don't worry about conceding.
My defining memory of Tyler as a player is a cup game where every player asked if they could play up front (Tylers position was normally striker at that time). I said "yeah of course, play where ever you want". Tyler realised there were 5 players playing striker (7 a side), so he dropped back and defended , largley alone (we won 1 nil). He didn't shout or get annoyed, he did what he saw needed to be done, no fuss. Had he been up front we probably would have won 7-2 or something because he is a very good finisher, and mustard quick, reads the game well, if he keeps 'the heed' you have a feckin bargain on your hands. All the best

Darragh MacAnthony stating on twitter they had scouted the lad 6/7 times, felt he wasn't right for L1/ Champ yet but commenting that Bradford have a made a good signing with potential. Said patience needed so could be someone who develops as he gains experience. Got to scout the non leagues, by the time the players gain a reputation in the EFL they are out of our price range.

100% agree, it's obvious Bowyer made this signing directly after reading your demands that he sign someone by the first of June. **so funny

Good luck to him. Theres plenty of talent in the non-leagues so hopefully we've found a gem.

I'm 100% behind any new defensive signing - they cant be any worse than last season's mob.

So can I but it has absolutely no bearing on whether Tyler French will be good enough or not.

Been on trial all over the football league with no takers, But we have taken the plunge and deserve to be rewarded for that, It says he is strong and quick and good in the air and my god have we lacked that this season, So a big welcome to a young man with something to prove, Welcome to the club

The standard he's played isn't far off L2, plenty of good solid players that given a full time pro environment could handle L2. For them it's the chance to realise a dream, not a wage to be collected as they drop down.

Happy with that signing, good to see we're looking at young talent in non league.

I also wouldn't expect to see another centre half arrive now until O'Connor is out of the building which is hopefully very soon.

If we can offload O’Connor and persuade Paudie to come back along with an experienced pro a la Killa, I would be happy with that central defensive line up.

The lad certainly doesnt lack confidence. 'Expect big things from me' is one quote on the club website

Lets hope he can quickly adapt to full time football and the big step up from the Bostick League.

I would imagine he has been brought in to be eased his way into the first team, where hopefully his rated potential bears fruition.

2 centre halfs in, still chasing Paudie hopefully, the end in sight for O'Connor perhaps, or maybe Bowyer will adopt a back 3?

Seems Bowyer sees defence as priority.

Hopefully we have a team who can defend again. I think French will play his part, hopefully grow with the club

    Good luck to the lad

Like this sort of signing. Might work out great, might end up being terrible but there's absolutely nothing wrong with signing players like this.
In fact this is exactly the sort of player who would've fitted 'Rahic's model'. Unfortunately the execution of that plan was shocking (without going into it all over again).

Anyway, best of luck Tyler! Looking forward to seeing you as part of a City team on the way back up

Paid a fee no matter how small is quite interesting does show to me we are prepared to pay money if required rather than just free transfers also wonder if we have agreed a friendly at some point too.

Hope so 2708, looks like the first couple of signings we've made are players that want to be here and to give their all for the shirt. Last thing we need is for them to get dragged down by being around a player with a poor attitude that thinks he is too good to be here.

How many times we gonna see ‘gem’ and ‘non league’ in the same sentence today!!

Welcome aboard to the lad. Steve Williams wasn’t bad at L2 level before and had the physical attributes when he stepped up from non league.....his lack of concentration was his downfall. Lets hope Tyler’s mind is on it and he’s given time to adapt now going pro.
