Pretty much the same level Vardy was playing at for 3 years. Maybe even higher

The levels are a bit skewed below National league as they're regional. I watched a few games in that league last year and it's not that bigger jump skill wise, but fitness isn't the greatest as most are part timers.

I remember when we signed Scott Neilson, who had had trials at various league clubs and was a 'real prospect'.

So can I but it has absolutely no bearing on whether Tyler French will be good enough or not.

Ha, just like when we sign a Scottish player and some twonk will say he’ll be rubbish based on completely on their experience of seeing Mark Stewart.

I haven't actually said that he'll be crap because Neilson was. just that it might be an idea to not eulogise about him just yet, there's no guarantee he's going to be the next big thing.

I haven't suggested anything either way, I'm just willing to have a look at him before commenting.

Hello every one, I managed Tyler at Under 10s (he was playing a year up). I didn't want to manage him, I turned up, with my boy, on signing up day to be told the previous years manager had phoned that morning to say he didn't fancy it, and he named me as the manager ( I had helped him put the goals away once). I grew up in America and I was a good football player, bit shite at soccer to be honest. Still, if I didn't do it the team might have folded. Now my attitude, and coaching style, was let the kids have fun, end of, they are 8 and 9 years old. So that season I saw my role was to spend my time asking people to sush. ( it was based on a theory I read in a child psychology/ sports coaching book) We actually finished 2nd that year and one (very experienced in youth soccer coaching) Dad said he had never seen a youth team play such in such a refined manner. I can't take any credit, I just said have fun and don't worry about conceding.
My defining memory of Tyler as a player is a cup game where every player asked if they could play up front (Tylers position was normally striker at that time). I said "yeah of course, play where ever you want". Tyler realised there were 5 players playing striker (7 a side), so he dropped back and defended , largley alone (we won 1 nil). He didn't shout or get annoyed, he did what he saw needed to be done, no fuss. Had he been up front we probably would have won 7-2 or something because he is a very good finisher, and mustard quick, reads the game well, if he keeps 'the heed' you have a feckin bargain on your hands. All the best

Great post. I have only watched him on his introduction video. He is a lovely lad, and that confidence and quiet assurance he will give his all for the badge is great to see. He was obviously thrilled to be here, and little bit in awe, but I was left in no doubt he will soon settle down. The only thing that is a slight worry, is that he will be a long way from home, just hope we take care of him well.

I wouldn't worry yourself too much about that Onside. He's 20 years old, plenty of kids younger than that move a long way from home when they go to uni - he'll be absolutely fine.

This time last year he'd have been a shoe-in for the first team with a CV like that.

We need a goalkeeping coach too. He said something about defending in his post so he can probably do that too.
