Typical of a lot of our fans judging a player after one game

 

I've heard he's strong in the air, so possibly Hopkin figured he would be the physical foil to Moore, who Rory bullied out of games previously - didn't seem to work out, but he's more a blood and thunder defender from reviews and comments.

 

He did ok, good header of the ball. In my view, we had too many cooks in defence. On occasions nobody could work out who was doing what. Let’s give him a few games before judging. Personally I would have left him out. I would be dissapointed if we have taken him with the proviso he has to play! We can’t make promises like that, we are in no fit state.

 

He did okay, good in the air and won a few headers against Moore. Problem was he was out of position a couple of times, maybe due to the fact he isn't used to playing in a back 3 and he was on McGowan's side, another player who was uncomfortable in the position he was playing.

 

He was awful yesterday. Whether he just had an off day or not is to be seen.

 

I'll pass judgement until after the next couple of home games.

 

45 minutes against a team who haven't lost at home since last March and a couple of training sessions with his new awful team mates yesterday.
Off day they all did in my opinion.

 

So was he supposed to be the right back blocking the cross, or the left back defending the far post ? I am only asking because I didn't see him do anything wrong particularly. The whole back line was disrupted and I don't understand why but I can't blame him for what he did.

 

Why was he awful? Kept seeing comments like this on Twitter all weekend. What did he do in the 45 minutes he played that was so awful?

 

Getting dragged out to the wing and then getting beat with ease. Think he got nutmegged twice in 2 minutes by their left winger. There was a long punt towards the wing he had about 5 yards head start on Keiffer Moore who is not renowned for his speed beat him too it. Looked like he was running in treacle. Looked out of his depth and can't blame match fitness when he's had games this season and not just been rotting in the reserves all year. First impression not good and think we've been done on my first instinct.
