Possible captain and one who will want to improve.

Hats off to Bowyer and the rest for this one. I think the budget may have room to manoeuvre if the right player is out there?

Solid looking defence now. A whole new back four if we want. Excellent.

 

I have said this before, I think he did ok at Barnsley. He was part of a back five, and none of defenders knew what they were supposed to be doing. Hardly the time to bring a young defender on for his debut! After that everyone and Hopkin judged him on that brief appearance when he was subbed so we could change the system to bring an attacker on. Thereafter he was a victim of the ludicrous 6 loanees when we can only use 5. It wasn’t until GB came that he was used correctly and hey ho, he started to shine, not only that he started to lead that team. LU can’t accommodate him as he wants to play full time football, so Paudie has chosen a manager who will support and develop him and where he knows he will get full time football. I think we have an excellent player, and yes we probably won’t be able to keep him if does really well, but in the mean time he has turned down lg1 clubs to be with us.

it may be something along the lines of first-refusal if we sell, a buy-back clause or a large % of any future transfer fee to reduce the transfer fee we may have had to pay now.

 

Excellent City. We are showing we have ambition and are willing to invest in the future. This lad was fantastic last year, despite being part of a poor team. He took the arm band when non would. Good character and good ability things are looking up. Welcome back Paudie.

 

Great signing, 3 years as well. This is the sort of investment a club should make, not the crap we’ve brought in the last few years!

I think it’s a deal that makes sense.

Right now, Paudie wouldn’t get in their side. They missed out on the PL by a hair and they’ll be looking to go one better. In 2-3 years he could be at a level where he’d get into the sort of side Leeds are right now, but he’ll only get there by playing elsewhere.

They’ll have a cheap buy back option and a healthy sell on. If he doesn’t develop then they haven’t lost out. If he develops a fair amount, the sell on May amount to a decent 6 figure fee which would be a fair valuation of where he is right now. If he really develops, they get a buy back at a cheap price, we benefit from a couple of years of a quality player at low cost and probably get a bit of a profit.

Win win all round, low risk all round.

 

Quite pleased with this one tbf I think he could be great at league 2 level and has plenty of potential.

What's really pleasing me about this window is the players coming in are Bowers choice doesn't look like any one else is interfering and that can only be a good thing.

 

Wow. Didnt expect to secure him on a 3 year permanent deal. This is a fantastic bit of business by the club, hats off to Bowyer for the way he handled him last season, and well done to Rupp and Rhodes for securing him.

Captain material, if not now, certainly in the near future.

I hope Paudie isnt fazed about all the expectation and goodwill aimed at him. He is still a young and inexperienced player afterall.

Personally, its a very long time since Ive been as excited and pleased about a permanent signing into our club.

He excites me as much as previous loanees Burke and Cullen, and to be then able to bring him back permanently is quite a coup in my opinion

 

We shouldn't put too much pressure on him.

He'll be as good as Van Dijk in a couple of years though tbf.

Barnsley away was a disaster and has to be put down to Dave Hopkins strange team selection and formation, after that little run we had put together IMO it was not needed.

True Brisbane, but however it has been done it is bloody good news and a real sign of positive intent - well done City

 

It's quite a turnaround to sign a player on a 3 year contract that just a few weeks ago, some were saying we wouldn't even stand a chance of getting back on a 6 month loan because Leeds would want him to go out on loan to another league 1 club.
