Some of our fans even judge players in preseason games that’s how clueless they are

You'd never sign players based on a couple of half games in pre season.

You'd think that City fans would start to reserve judgement now based on some of the signings Bowyer has made but no lets crucify him already based on 45 minutes in pre season and what other fans say.

Saw him play twice in pre season and he was gash IMO.
If judging somebody who is a professional, playing against part timers ( whose fitness should be less than his ) and looking poor is clueless then, guess what, I'm clueless and you're far superior to me.

The ability to make the ball stick up top is more critical than volume of headers.

Obviously Doyle did neither, and performed very poorly.

You've just proved my point. You're more interested in how he performs as a target man than as a goalscorer which is probably 90% of the reason you think he was poor.

I wasnt disputing your point, just amending it to mean more than headers.

If the ball keeps coming back, chances are you'll lose games.

With Doyle, the ball kept coming back. We lost games.

He had neither the skill or physical ability to prevent it happening. Nobody last season did.

I'm assuming the majority of trialists looking to earn themselves a contract are judged on what they do in training and preseason games. How else are you supposed to assess them?

Not a target man but just how he/a player performs. To be fair he was woeful in a woeful team. Scored 10/11 (3 or 4 pens) so not a bad return but there's no argument that he was poor, really poor at times.

The guy has played 400 games in his career. You don’t play 400 games of professional football if you’re crap. I’ll trust Bowyer’s judgement on this one given that many on here had written off the likes of Connolly, Pritchard et al before they’d seen them kick a ball.

Josh Wright has played over 300 games of professional football. What's your point?

Taylor played well over 200 games for one club, Wright has been a half a season man at most clubs apart from Gillingham.

    Chalk and cheese.

Aaron McLean, Andy Gray (2nd spell) and Sean Scannell. All players with plenty of experience, who had spend a decent amount of time at their respective clubs and were past it by the time we had signed them. Players deteriorate and it looks like Taylor comes under that Bracket.

Thankfully there's not a lot of expectation on him. He only needs to be better than Devine/Anderson to earn his wage.

FFS we are 3rd and unbeaten in is it 5 games.? And we are moaning about a player we have never seen play consistently for any team. Give the manager and the player a bit of respect keyboard warriors we will never had ,played, or managed, at their level and from so far Bowyers done pretty well. The guy has not even kicked a ball !!!
