Only reason Hornby isnt 1st choice is Brown is in the form of his life, cleared up at end of season awards for vale last season. Could have sulked like Riley did for us but read a couple of bits saying he hasnt moaned hes just cracked on with it which is a big tell for me.

Could also bring the best out of OD now he has actual competition for his place. We saw it with Hanson/Davies, Parky said Davies was a good signing for as much of how he pushed Hanson to pick his standards up after being a certy pick week in week out for so long.

 

What's happening with regards to the goalkeeper coach? Has Maik Taylor been kept on following the expiration of his deal? @wetherbywhaler @Glenn Ackroyd

You're right, we can't just assume he's sulked and moaned, that's defamation of character.

Not about experience more about ability hopefully there has been some good scouting here. Providing he stays O’Donnell will compete but it wouldn’t surprise to see Hornby start

 

Ever thought of a career as a motivational speaker? I hope the lad has a great pre-season and is pushing for that number 1 slot, shouldn't we all really want this to be the case?

It is a shame about Hornby as he was certainly a great backup to have given the praise he has received from reserve and Checkatrade matches. Given Browns performance it was always going to take something special to oust him as number 1 though.
Good luck to Sam. A decent backup for us, who I'm sure would have had more chances at any other club in the league this season. Are we entitled to compensation, given his age and the fact we offered him a contract? I know it would only be buttons, but it is better than nothing.
One thing that really bothers me.......BRADFORD...........AGAIN.. ......they always seem to pinch players off us!

Sorry to see Sam go but it would be unfair on him to keep him here. He's too good to be a number 2 - a really good move for him too

 

I think OD will be shipped out, we'll get another number one in, and this lad will be number 2. Probably (hopefully) a lot going on behind the scenes.
What do they mean "Bradford again"? I can think of Lee Mills and maybe Billy Knott. Who else did we take from them? Oh wait. Marshall too. Maybe they have a point!

 

Seeing a lot of people over exaggerating about what people are saying about the quality of players and how excited they about them. I don't see any one really over the moon at the signing just think he could be a good addition to the squad...

 

I think the general feeling is that any signing we make this season can't be any worse than the ones we made last season. If they actually genuinely want to be here as well then that's a bonus.

 

Sort of agree Petrov, I don't really have an opinion until we know what hapens with ROD. Vale fan seems to like him though..

 

Nice to see us making some early moves to sign players. No idea if any of the signings are good but at least we seem to be far more prepared than last season. Did we even have a manager at this point last year?

Time will tell if it’s going to work but at least Bowyer seems to have identified areas that he wants to strengthen and is working to do so.

 

No we didn't. Collins wasn't appointed until 18th June.

 

It's not just down to what we do though is it? If O'Donnell gets an offer from a league 1 club on similar or better terms than he is on now, I can't see him staying.

If he moved on it wouldn't be the end of the world though, I'm just pointing out that should he stay, he's a more than capable keeper.
