    Not really.
There is a kit manufacturer in this city whom I know, who could easily make up a bespoke shirts for less than £20 each for approx 3-3500 units

I was trying to work out how many shirts we would need to order.

First team squad of 25, not sure how many shirts each player goes through but it wouldn't surprise me if the squad go through 200.

    Youth team another 200
Boys teams, 6 age groups, another 200?
Disabled teams, ladies teams, girls teams , maybe 300

So that is 1,000 for the club and I think that will be a low figure. So from your 3-3,500 it only leaves 2,000 for sale

I posted this in the general football section, but this is how to design a shirt.

Working with a local manufacturer would surely provide more flexibility with deleveries. The design could be agreed and production started long before the previous season had ended, there must be a long lead time before production starts with the big companys, and as Nike proved with the cup final shirts, you have no chance of a special run.

I would say that sounds to make sense but the fact that most clubs work with the larger firms suggest to me that there must be financial or practical reasons for that fact.

That still seems a relatively high price for something produced in such numbers.

Slightly out of date but the cost in 2015 this article states that, ‘A shirt costs an average £4.79 to produce including fabric, labour and shipping costs’. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/replica-football-shirts-rip-fans-7455562

Even if you said they cost £8-10 a shirt, it could be an attractive proposition.

    Yes!

When we were shifting 18,000 ST’s, we were frequently requesting a third batch of shirts. Nike sold their batches in 5,000’s. I recall reading about how we had sold 15,000 units a few season’s ago.

Down here, Stafford Rangers are using local company Harlequin Teamwear (who mostly produce teamwear for motor racing teams/individuals). Three bespoke designs were produced and put to a fans vote this month. The winning design is now available to order and is expected to be ready by mid-August; that's 5 or 6 weeks from agreed design to physical shirts being available. Obviously, the quantities won't be quite the same as City's but, with kitting out the teams, plus those for supporters, I'd expect them to shift between 500 and 1,000. £30 for the adult shirt as well.

That a resonable price for a football shirt.

The bigger clubs will get big sponsorshipship deals, with shirts sold around the world, but I would guess some of the smaller clubs are just lazy,it's easier to accept a deal rather than do some work on it.

Apparently there have been record sales of the new kit. ‘Like-for-like sales are up on previous years, following last week’s official launch - which marked the latest chapter of the ‘City For All’ campaign’.

Not sure how far back they go, when comparing sales. I would be surprised if we had sold 15,000 in the past. If people on here are anything to go by, then I reckon only a small percentage (would admit to) wear one.

Well, I most certainly didn’t make it up. I think it was Mark Lawn who mentioned it during a radio interview, but Nike most certainly issued their batches in 5,000 units at a time. The conversation went along the lines of, ‘we ordered our 3rd batch x amount of weeks ago and they’re almost sold’.

All depends on what like for like period they are talking about. The same weeks previously or the week of launch previously
