I know most were hoping for a playoff spot before a ball was kicked, but given the poor start to the season (in more ways than one) what are your new expectations for the season, if any at all?

The capture of Hopkins has made me feel a tad more optimistic and whilst we are still lacking quality in certain areas, I still think he has something to work with when everyone is available- mainly Scannell and Reeves if they get back to full fitness. We do however look very vulnerable at the back and given that relegation was and still is a distinct possibility, I'd take anything above 21st so Hopkin can start rebuilding in the summer.

What are your hopes and expectations for the season?

Like you Tawheed, anything above the relegation zone would be my hope given where we currently are.

If Rahic leaves football to the professionals, and backs Hopkin we have a chance.

Picking an impossibly high target just so you can have a go at Edin when we don't make it.

    Low life ;)

Just shows how far backwards we have gone under the present regime, a couple of years ago we were aiming for the Championship and now we are hoping just to stay up. To be honest i'm pissed off with the whole mess the club is in. Bottom half finish for me.

Make valley parade a tough place to come again and get the points on the board at home.

Can see us finishing mid table but nothing spectacular

Don’t think the start should cost us too much if we can get these players back and fast

Before a ball had been kicked I thought we'd be in a relegation battle... I still think we'll be in a relegation battle, but do think we'll stay up.

I genuinely think that the quality of the squad has deteriorated over the last 3 years. We've gone from having a very good league one team, to an average league one team, to a poor league one team.

Ignoring all the other issues and thinking only about the side and coaches, I would have taken mid-table before the season began, given the quantity of new players and the late appointment of a new head coach. Now, I'm another who'll be happy with avoiding relegation, and pleasantly surprised by mid-table. Hopkin must keep us at least in touch with safety until January; reinforcements then will I hope push us up into a more comfortable final position.

I actually think 1 player could transform this team, a midfield general is what we are crying out for.
If we had one then I think that would settle the defence and allow us to use our strengths going forward, I believe that Doyle and Ball are good strikers that could do really well together. We just need to keep control of the ball better to allow us to play better balls up to them both.

As soon as collins was appointed the aim was to stay up. Arguably now, with the discontent with the owners and the squad lacking in numbers and confidence, even with a proper manager, the aim still should be survival.

Although I'm confident we will stay up with Hopkin in charge.

If we manage to avoid relegation I will be immensely grateful to Hoppy and the team. He has his work cut out for him, with loads of injuries. We might have to suffer more defeats yet, so gritted teeth, and cheer the team on.

    I don't think I'm changing my viewpoint, here - My expectation is still 10th, 11th or 12th.
My hope is to avoid the bottom four, come May.

I think to drop down to Lge two again would hurt us much more than it did last time.
We would possibly lose another 5k of our 'support', probably some sponsorship too, and the team would need rebuilding, yet again. Would Stefan Rupp be prepared and willing to fund the obvious shortfalls ?

I doubt it, just think they would leave, despite saying they were here for the long haul.

    Expectations you ask.
I expected after two play-offs that the third one would give us Championship football.
However now we're looking into a surreal kaleidascope trying to make sense of why we're staring at league two football, my realistic expectations are now fifth from bottom.
My hope's are that Rack and Ruin sell up to Mr T.

Here's one for the Solvent brigade, the budget has been substantially slashed in two successive seasons.
    Where's it gone?
Don't say signings they've been financed by other sources of income, Well's, Hanson etc..

I'll take that as long as its 5th bottom, Im hoping Hopkin will get us a little higher and finish 11/12th.

No. They would just say that mistakes have been made, they are learning and then go right back to exactly what they've been doing from the very start. Then we start to plummet down the league 2 table. . . . but mistakes have been made and we are learning, before appointing Mr. Tumble from the under 8's team as head coach.

I'm going for a repeat of the 98/99 season. Bottom of the league of 7 games and top two position by end of season.

    No doubt about it ;-)

Pre season I said between 10-15th, but that was before I saw just how incompetent Collins was. Since Hopkin has come in he's hinted a lot at just how poor our fitness is, and the fact they have never even had an ice bath shows just how shambolic it's been, it reminds me when Jake Speight slagged off fitness under Taylor.

With this in mind anywhere from 20th or above and I'll be happy, well relieved more than happiness but lets not get greedy.
