DMH was a signing he was released and signed ODonnell did have his contract renewed much to the satisfaction of most supporters. So basically your point only covers OD

It takes years to build a squad that is 'your own', and it very rarely happens - but actually where a manager is allowed a couple of years to build their own squad, it tends to work out quite well in the lower leagues. Look at the success of Accrington and Wycombe who have shown a huge amount of patience.

I completely agree but it backs up my point rather than goes against it. If you only judge managers when the squad is 100% theirs then no manager would get judged. It does only seem to some out here as an excuse for McCall though weirdly.

That's a chicken and egg question though. Teams who stick with poor managers won't get better over time and are likely to get worse. Sticking with the wrong guys will not be a positive.

they don't get judged in ONE transfer window.

for some reason you've started asking me this question but I don't understand what the underlying message is here. I am assuming that you want to lay this at McCall somehow. Stuart identified targets that arguably would have got us up out of this league but wouldn't come here. If they didn't want to come here due to lower wages. That's the wage cap to blame or the club for not wanting to get signings before it was implemented.

ah yes! but how do you know he is poor? how do you know that it isn't the quality of the players compared to the tactics of McCall? I for one see nice attacking football with intent that is let down by our current strikers (none of which McCall signed)

Because you're using it as a defense but to me it actually points to the poor squad building which people are complaining about. You see it as a reprsentation that it's not "Stuart's squad" but doesn't it actually point to the managers poor levels of recruitment?

Nobody cares if players don't want to come. Rahic was rightly mocked for talking about that young striker Moore. Targeting players who choose to go other places is standard, not something particular to us during this season.

Haven't we still got room under the wage cap?

I don't 'know it', I'm not that arrogant to talk in terms of facts when it's just an opinion.

As I've said before he's had a very significant time in management and he ticks none of my boxes. He has never left a club in a better league position and has a very poor record in winning "big" games. I don't care about style of play at all, just results.

Has he not signed Samuels now?? Come on.

we are both making the same point with different outlooks. I am saying there was no one willing or available to come here, whilst you are saying there were.

No that is fair, I did forget about Samuels but that ties in the point I made about no top targets were willing or available to come here.

Well I'm saying that chasing players who end up going somewhere else is bog standard.

Nah mate, we'd been chasing Samuels all summer and he was the final piece of the jigsaw. Honest. Can't remember who said that.

but then what else can be possibly done?

is it plausible to scout someone who would be useful as depth? he's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.

With respect @XCIV_Bantam@XCIV_Bantam of the 9 players McCall either signed or re-Signed 6 of them were in his match day squad against Exeter not 4. It would have been 7 but one of his inspirational signings seems incapable of going three games without getting sent off. Not sure Stu did much background check with him despite managing him at Scunthorpe.

Can't see a problem to be honest a football manager watching a team his team will be playing in a fortnight, I'm sure as Roger Owen he did all the required things, I was just pointing out that he was eyeing up the opposition which is what most managers do.

Back to not letting the experienced striker go until you have secured a suitable replacement. Been done to death like most things.

It is what it is now. Football is a results based business - you cant hide behind rubbish results and make excuses forever. You still need to coach, pick and motivate the squad/team to get positive results, whether you signed them or not.

let’s hope we have turned a corner and cut out the sloppy goals as that undermines everything else good we do.

But it's not his workplace. It is for journalists though. Other managers, such as McCall in this instance, are visitors and it is not essential to his work

Seems Stuart cant win, ridiculed for his Iap top/Ipod comment and when he personally goes to watch games then questioned if it's right, I'd say very much so with Salford away this weekend, any advantage we get watching them has to be a bonus.

I dont think it should be him going, this is why I think we need more investment in scouting. The time hes taking out to go do stuff like this and scout his own players is an unnecessary distraction given how relatively cheap a part time scout would be.

The game was played on Friday night, that's what is expected of managers, it would be great to have a scouting network but I doubt many if any league two teams employ them cheap or not, I don't see a problem with him taking a game in he's not doing it when the players are training or games are being played.
Seeing players in the flesh is far better than a video of a player, you can watch what they are doing off the ball this can tell you far more about the player than when he has the ball.
