Bit of a weird one this. Although I'd now expect Longridge to leave and Foulds to come in as backup for Wood, on what I'd imagine to be a much lower wage.

I like it that T&S have had Foulds in the club for the past 10 days and the announcement of him with us until the end of the season is based on what they have seen - if it goes well for both club and player he is def the right age to have a longer future with us

Agree. And more than likely we'll be playing in league two again next season so let's give him to the end of the season. We have some nunbers in defence now with him and Canavan so if there are injuries we have cover and if this lad does well he can get a contract for next season at hopefully not too high salary.

I think this is a good way to go. We'll be struggling to get a team for next season with the salary cap and so many players contracts up. We need to be spreading contract deadlines over time and not having such a huge turnover every end of season.

If T&S stay on to the end of the season and next season then I think they'll give anyone a chance to win a contract who shows willing and ability and fair play to them.

True, perhaps young isn’t the correct definition. However he’s still a few years from his prime and a lot left to develop.

Meredith was quicker than Wood, had a much better engine and was a stronger tackler. But @Briggus@Briggus is correct - Wood has a much sweeter left foot for crosses and free kicks, whereas Mezza couldn't cross for toffees.
Both of them are painfully and ridiculously one footed, which drives me to distraction in professional footballers, meaning they both pass backwards far too often in order to avoid using their right foot. But Mezza had the big advantage of having Law and Cullen (both exceptional at pass and move) close to him a lot of the time so he usually had plenty of short pass options immediately available, which helped to cover up his passing inadequacies. Wood hasn't had that luxury.

Another out of the blue signing. Surprised his name didnt leak if training with us last few days.

Although not doubting his ability, a bit of a curious one though. On the face of it, it possibility paves the way for the departure of Wood or Staunton to me, hope not

Most left footers are one footed, look at Jeremy Corbyn.
It's something to do with their brain.

Scout I know has just text to say he is watching Stevenage v Tranmere today (not relevant) but message said 'know there has been a lot of activity already at your club but soundbites are we're putting extra effort and focus into the striker role'. Finger crossed

Having read what Everton's under 23 manager had to say about Matty he sounds a promising signing.

agree in part. He’s been in a mediocre side and yet a consistent performer, he may kick on more in a better team. To be honest though, it’s a sign of the times when we’re struggling to keep hold of a lad like Wood.

Wood is a poor wing back, but he's developed into a good full back.

I think he has all the attributes to perform at League One level, but I also don't think it would be too hard to replace him.

He had a strong season last season, and the questions raised this season are largely because McCall pushed him too far forward when in reality his strengths are more defensive despite his crossing accuracy.

I think on his day he's the best crosser of a ball in the division but his defensive work is suspect at times. Suffered from Mccall pushing him forward cos he hits it that well he doesn't really need to get to the byline to cross it.
