We must still get at least one sheet of paper with the teams on.I went to the game yesterday I was looking at some players and didn’t have a clue who some of them were(Academy players)or the opposition.

I would pay for the sheet of paper,it would join my programme collection

 

Makes you wonder why they can't produce an E-version for a quid- I would be more likely to consider that. Haven't bought a matchday programme in a long time.

 

Yep, something I suggested a few weeks ago, but there are so many options pre game to find the announced teams. Would it be worth it?

 

Bit of a shame, seems everything these days boils down to a price in bean counter era. Some things are worth a bit more than just hard currency. What’s £500 a fortnight loss (complete guess) when you’ve spent god knows how much paying off the likes of Derek Adams.

Sadly not in the least bit surprised but I think it smacks of penny pinching.

 

I can certainly understand the likes of Stevenage, who jumped on this as soon as the FA allowed teams to stop printing them, they probably only sold a couple of hundred a time, if that.
City however have a possible 13-14,000 possible customers if the product is any good.
The problem is the product has descended into old news and adverts, which at £3 a pop is never going to sell.
I used to like buying away ones just for the memories but the latest, at Hartlepool, was absolute rubbish.

 

If it’s a choice between an extra £250 week salary we can offer a decent player, or a cheaply made booklet which tells you a bit about the tinpot opposition which we don’t want to share a league with then give me the money every day of the week.

I used to get one but found them less and less relevant in the modern world. I can understand maybe doing them for big matches or something, but a Sutton or Crawley in league 2 no thanks.

 

I wrote to Sparks at the beginning of last season, suggesting a digital version of the programme for overseas fans, and those who cannot attend the game. I'd have paid a couple of quid to read through it.

Didn't get a reply.

 

as a read they haven’t always bean the greatest but you get out what you put in , what about the programme sellers and a bit of extra coin for them. Small things but I think it boils down to the club can’t be arsed as it makes no money, not all supporters are smartphone users though, I know my dad always bought one. It was rubbish when Geoffrey started printing in black and white but at least the club saw sense then and did a u turn.

 

It’s a business, if it doesn’t contribute to the business and loses money then it’s not about been arsed it’s simple economics. They might come back some day if we go up the leagues or for big games, but other than a small minority of people nobody bothers with them, otherwise they wouldn’t be getting rid.

 

If just a business it would have been done and dusted a long time ago. I hope the numbers work for them. If they want to do their bit for sustainability they could try to fix the jammed taps in the kop.

 

Maybe they’ll be able to afford to now and a new hand dryer…

They're not reet good at replying at the club, despite the 'we aim to reply in 48 hours' spiel.

I think they filter the emails in terms of 'does this immediately regard money', ie, ticket sales, and 'is this query non-financial'.

If you're in the latter, you're in the wastebin.

 

Disgusting to announce this after 14000+ have bought season tickets assuming they could buy a programme at each game.

 

BBC Sport usually has them up well before kick off time.

You'd have thought if he's not part of the backroom staff the club would have mentioned it and quoted the usual we would like to thank Andy etc etc.

 

Programmes, like a lot of print media is becoming outdated in an age of instant news.
I suspect if a poll was run on here to see how many of us actually buy a programme the numbers answering 'yes' would be pretty low.
The club has various digital channels to release information. And there was the aborted attempt to launch the app. Which, if memory serves me right, was due to the third party who was supplying the tech and hardware to operate it inside VP.
