Totally agree but I do the same and am threatened with a ban ?

 

Sorry Roger, but a debate is to constructively exchange views, usually with evidence to back up their reasoning. It isn’t a tool to make up lies.

 

Maybe he should have said we will sell to anyone who's got the money then, instead us fans presumed they looked at what the new owners business plan was before they sold to them.

 

I’d love to know what makes @SimonW an authority on all things City. He doesn’t follow the club, doesn’t care either way and yet he steams in with his facts and opinions on many threads, balling out genuine city fans who only want the best for the club.

 

That was wrong, just as @brisbanebantams being banned from a thread was wrong. Nobody should really be threatened with a ban on this forum, its the tamest one out there. Forum starts to get silly when posters are threatened with a ban for nothing.

 

Future revenues that were not guaranteed? You’re effectively saying he loaned the club money with a guarantee against something not guaranteed?

I may make a trip to the bank and ask them to remortgage my house up to £250k on the premise that it may be worth more than that if I’m lucky....?

 

@Fools Gold has provided just one link from Lawn to confirm he got nothing from the club and even had to pay their phone and fuels bills. He (and Rhodes) releases similar statements whenever people claimed he was taking a fee.

 

Woah, I said it didn’t work for me, not that I “couldn’t be arsed”....! I’ll try it again. But I’m not scouring the internet to get you quotes from Lawn and/or Rhodes that you’re likely to just dismiss anyway.

I don't think in this case posters are using lies to back their point of view, i think in Mark Lawns case the club needed investment to push forward, as joint chairman he has a vested interest in the club moving forward so lends the club, via a loan, funds to try and do this. As a businessman i would expect him to do this, i would also expect him to try, but not expect, to receive a return on that investment. I don't blame him at all, to me the low risk was worth the investment. Just seems that some seem to think he almost willed it to us. He did what he had to do as chairman of a club that wanted some capital but had no way of getting it. I admire him for his business sense.

 

When I say ‘making things up’, I’m referring to the little nuggets such as
“What he means is 'if I buy the club rather than come in later as an investor then they aren’t going to guarantee me a yearly return of 9% above the BoE base rate so it’s not worth while me divesting other investments'.” And other similar statements

 

How many times have these two openly lied about the running of the club once they took over, the first interview they gave they told us they would not change things as that was one of the reasson they bought our club.
2 weeks later the very person who made our club a sucsess walked out because he wasn't prepared to work under Edins prefered vision.

 

Yes, I am aware. It was tongue in cheek.
But let’s be frank here, football ownership isn’t like any other business. So stop comparing apples with oranges.

I will ask you one final time. What assets worth £1m did City have (guaranteed) at the time Lawn loaned his money?
