Surely It’s part and parcel of being a CEO.
If you’re scared of making big decisions then you might not be ready for senior management.

Obviously he’s guided by Rupp but Sparks likes being the mouthpiece of the club when he’s announcing another sponsor or jumping on some local bandwagon.
Time to accept that there is a shitty side of the job as well

The vote of confidence statement never ends well, even if we don't want to sack him today then lose the next 2 and he probably does get sacked making the statement pointless. We tried it with McCall i think to try and get the players on side but players know these days if they down tools they are far more valuable than the manager who can easily be disposed of whereas the club are stuck with the players.
With nothing being announced now it would suggest he will be in charge on Saturday as you would've expected him to be sacked this morning with Trueman appointed caretaker, it doesn't make to leave it until this afternoon or tomorrow to sack him or to leave the announcement until later today.

Has any manager ever been given a vote of confidence and then not eventually been sacked?

People’s perception is almost that the words “vote of confidence” actually mean the complete opposite these days, and it’s only a matter of time before the axe falls.

I can't think of any time a manager has survived longer than a few times, there's a reason it's called the "dreaded" vote of confidence. It always seems to a last attempt to give the manager a chance but once it is said everyone knows a manager is on the edge of the sack.

I presume that's why he brought in Glyn Hodges to assist, as he has experience of lower league football.

who ? Cook ? He always gets out jumped when a defender is close to him, rarely wins 50-50 headers, he is soo immobile, just watch him on sat and count how many headers he wins when a defender is on him… free headers yes he will bury them 75% of the time.. but on 50-50s he would get out jumped by Bilbo Baggins

He has shown already he isn’t afraid of that.he will be weighing up what several people have pointed out at some stage we have to give managers more time because hiring and firing doesn’t work. Many people wanted Parky sacked that first season we stuck with it and we progressed every season of his time.I think Hughes is skating very much on thin ice after our last two performances so he has a hard decision

Yes but it is extremely hard to identify what he brings to the party.

I’ve posted before that they’ve worked together on and off for the last 15/20 years.

Hughes clearly trusts him as a coach/mate and they must think they work well together.

The dead ball specialist coach that he was touted to be is the biggest problem for me.
We clearly haven’t improved (actually got worse apparently) in that area of the game so what is his supposed expertise based on?

I've said it time and time again, even last year when he was in red hot form.

We basically have one of the best headers of a ball in the league playing up front ....... and use inverted wingers who continue to come inside.

That's a sacking offence on its own!

I'm not sure the sense of panic really resonates to the league table, yet.

Season is far from over in terms of where we can finish including automatic promotion or play offs and for that reason, I genuinely feel the axe will not fall, yet.

2 or 3 wins back to back and the table looks better. I feel the club will restrain in the short term and for that, I can understand. This current atmosphere has been done before, look at prior to Newport and the fans are more upbeat thereof. And that statement from Rupp regarding the doubters, maybe is the feeling displayed by those at boardroom level . Ultimately Rupp surely will get some input into any decision of a dismissal and the doubters statement, certainly ain't one that casts shadows on MH tenure at this stage.

Ok, if we are not sacking him, and I can see why they are wavering, what are we going to do? Doing nothing and we could drop further making it almost impossible to get anything out of this season. We urgently need a plan of action. This massively affecting fans and the club. You have masses of ST holders not turning up even though they have paid for their seat, the club will know exactly how much money is going down the drain. If we are scrambling about getting draws and the odd win, how much damage is going to be done in the lack of ST renewal? The repercussions are enormous.

I get your point Dave, but with 35 matches left we already need to average 2 points a match just to hit the accepted level of 83 for 3rd place. Pick up 5 points or less in the next 5 tough games and we then need to average 2 points a match to finish 7th.

I was happy to give him to match 15, but just can't see where he is turning things around given we have only won once in seven league matches.

But on the flip side, as I said, I'm sure the club are looking at this a situation that can be resolved and move forward. It's only my opinion but the season ticket debate is months from being an issue and rarely surfaces despite comments from disgruntled fans.

Like I say, only my opinion but I'm just thinking it's a bit early from a boardroom perspective and Hughes will be afforded more time

Will the club feel Hughes can achieve this and back him in the interim, I feel so.

I don't agree but I'm putting myself in the shoes of the decision makers.

I don't think I'd read a lot into that, there's not a lot for them to post the day after a game and if they do post they know what type of reaction they'll get so not worth it.
