Going back to the comics discussion, I used to love the sports stories in them. Alf Tupper: The Tough of the Track & Gorgeous Gus in the Victor; Roy of the Rovers in both the Tiger & his own comic; Billy's Boots in both the Tiger and the Eagle at different times, etc.

 

[I seem to recall wayback, there was a football character called limp along leslie. He reminded me of my bro as he had a serious leg injury as a kid and played for many years in the local leagues.

Not forgetting Raven on the Wing, he was a gypsy who used to play in his bare feet, loved Alf Tupper, used to sleep in pipes on construction site, find out about athletic meetings in the paper that his fish and chips were in, turn up, usually tied his laces together, and get grief from a load of toffs, who were usually were a couple of laps in front of him before he was sorted, but he still managed to win in the end, priceless

Nothing sums up the negativity of certain City fans that they will declare a player as been rubbish, they haven't even seen playing.

No wonder we have so many players ranked as "crap" in the last 4 years!! If you haven't made an appearance, danced round 10 players 'Robbie Blake style' per match or made 10 'Gary Jones' tackles or scored at the same ratio as Gerd Muller, you're "crap"!!

 

Is he one of Hughes’ go too men? Seems strange of not as he currently works at Donny.

 

No idea. The person I know asked Sparks who he was and that was the answer.

 

The only connection I can find is he is the same age as MH and he is Welsh

Kiplings have a parking arrangement with the company over the road for customers to park in their carpark out of office hours, if that helps. Kiplings treat the office staff to a meal every month in return
